Hi all.  Spot is acting odd, and I'm a little stumped as to why.
He's been swimming laps around and around the tank, as fast as he can go.  He's not rubbing himself on anything, nor is he smashing into stuff (well, he DID try to fit behind the filter hose and realized he's gotten too fat ).  He's not clamped, and he's eating well, save that he does his laps when the others "gravel" for crumbs.  We didn't test ammonia, but they got a recent water change, and nitrates, nitrites, pH, etc., are all within the safe-ideal range on our test.  He has no marks or odd spots on him, nor is he clamped, nor are the others acting strange.  They just kind of watch him go by, then go back to their business.
So, what is it, I wonder?  Is he:
- Sick?
- Getting geared up for spawning season?
- Training for the Iron Fish competition?
- Or just being a silly fishie?
Guesses, questions, and input welcome.  Quite frankly, I'm puzzled.

He could just be a bored fish if they get bored and do what humans do like walking in circles.

Sounds to me like he's just a super happy fishy exited about life! Dominant fish have a tendancy to try to "show off" whenever possible, that may include

-Picking on other fishies as if to say "I'm the boss!"
-Trying to spawn with "his" females
-Impressing his fellow fish friends

Sometimes fish act like they've been stung by a bee if they've been hurt by another fish, but I don't think thats the case for your sweetie. I wouldn't worry to much if I were you, but it wouldn't hurt to test the ammonia...
