lets post our dream fish!
« on: December 02, 2010, 02:53:03 AM »

Hey all I was thinking might be fun if we found pictures online that look closest to a fish that we dream of owning one like and posting them on here (goldies, bettas ect..). If its st*pid idea sorry lol. Just kindof think will be fun.

my first pic is of a irredesent opaque white betta, i want a halfmoon doubletail, i  once saw one that was more pink than this and passed it up and to this day been trying to find one like it (kicking myself). second pic is of a yellow one i would like to find yellow is my favorite color and his finneage is closest to what i dream of.

cant wait to see what you all want.

This spring i plan on trying to find a tosakin goldfish. think they are so interesting.
the redhead ranchu in the last 2 photos is someone i met onlines fish. I might get lucky during spring if his offspring spawn (he is 11 so he doesnt breed any longer) the gentleman said he would let me get some of the babies. This ranchu i fell in love with on first sight, threatened to drive to new york and steal it from him lol.

so these are the fish i am searching for as of now. sure i will find more i want in future lol.

That white betta is beautiful!! I didn't know they existed.

As already said Aimee my dream fish would be any of your Ranchu's  Wink More than that I want a Black Moor because they are my favourite goldfish type.

Other fish off the top of my head that I would love include a bristlenose, a mudskipper, a freshwater small crab (the picture is of a saltwater one but it's just so darn cute) and there is plenty of other fish but they are main ones. I think there is more but I can't think of any at the moment Tongue

Lol cute creatures. Yeah my babies are some of my dream fish now I have them so I want to get more dream fish, I  am greedy that way lol.
The guy that is sending me the baby Orandas also had baby longfinned albino bristlenose fish and he sent me 4 of the baby ones. Found these photos of a adult male online. Was wary of putting one with goldies but from what I have read on here sounds like they safe.

I went to Petsmart today and all their fish are so sick!
I bought a sick one out of pity Cry
I know you've all been there and done that.
I'm sure I will be taking his poor dead, sick body back to the store next week.
ARGH...why do I do this to myself! Sad
Ok well here is picture of an ideal calico that I would like to own!

Nossie: I've never seen anything like that pleco!! I didn't know something like that existed, it's very surreal looking! Those Oscars are the exact type my boyfriend's brother has! Why don't you live here and he could give you some babies?  Angry
Haha. I love mudskippers so much. One of the fish shop I go to has one in a salt water tank with other cool fish. I would prefer to have one set up so it could come out like a mangrove setting with brackish water. That is the same type of tank the crab would need to, it it just very unfortunate that those two animals would not work together at all!!

Minde: Have you looked into getting one from goldfish connection? I'm sure you've talked about this before  Undecided Or seeing if your fish shop could order one in for you? I hope your new fishie friend ends up ok, it has ALOT of hope with you. I could never do that, I don't have the skills or strength. You're just so wonderful for doing it Smiley

I got my calico oranda on goldfish connection for around $50 on his auction. I can ask ken if he has any calico Orandas to add to auction  tomorrow if you would like, also can call Tommy at Goldfishnet.com see if he has any but his fish range from $90-$150, he is who I got my chubby ranchus from.  I have seen another place people rave is safe and good and they have decent shipping prices and fish are mostly from $20-$60 very few higher.  is raingarden.com he raises his own stock has great variety and great reputation. I plan on ordering a crown pearl from him.  You can also watch aquabid.com but don't know sellers reps not sure I would trust.

Good luck on getting yourself one. I am not sure where you are located so not sure if they deliver out of united states.

Ok, thanx Aimee for all the good info. Smiley
I live in Michigan and after yesterday seeing all those poor fish shipped into Petsmart, and your brislenoses arriving dead, I'm scared to have anything shipped right now.  The weather has turned to freezing or just above.  You say your postal worker was careless with your fish!...mine would probably play kick the can with it!! Mindemae: That's really sad Sad Maybe it is because of the weather?

Giant Gourami   Grin Yes please!! They grow to be about 40cm in captivity, but can grow to be about 70cm in the wild. (I don't think I would really want one of these unless I could give it a huge tank, but they are amazing!).

Vegetarian too Smiley

Oh yes, those! Cheesy I love them! <3 (I seem to have a thing for the less beautiful fish lately xD)
There is also another type of gurami called Giant gurami, but it grows to be 10cm Tongue I wonder who picked the name for that one xD

Haha yes they aren't the prettiest fish but there is something so **** interesting about them. They had one at the fish shop I went to the other week in a display tank with some goldfish, I was freaking out until I found out later that they are vegetarians. Though you could definitely tell who was boss in that tank and it has these freaky teeth  Shocked

Haha that is a bit silly, doesn't a dwarf gourami grow to be about 10cm? Now they are pretty Smiley

Dwarf gouramis should be about 7cm I think Smiley (but I do get confused sometimes) but either way it's strange having two gouramis in such different size classes being called "giant"! xD

Tell me more about the teeth! What did they look like? Cheesy

They looked thin but very sharp! You couldn't really see them at first but my boyfriend put his head right up to the fish just to look at it and full got them out, it was quite scary  Cheesy
