Live plants?

Firstly if this has already been asked then I apologise...

We have live plants in our tank (goldfish) and we were wondering, do you replace them after a while or what? Asking because these plants are more black than green(algae on them)..The guy who put them in our tank said they were good as, and that our boys would nibble on them..Havent seen them nibble on them at all and so they are looking kinda yuck..Will we take them out and put more in?

During your tank maintenance you can take them out and rinse them, gently rub the algae off  Smiley

Well just took plants out and gave them a rinse, didnt make any difference I'm afraid...But thank you anyway for your suggestion...

did you try to gently rub them off with a soft sponge you only use for aquarium cleaning?
But maybe the leaves are to tiny... what kind of plant have you got? Smiley

Are they covered in algae? In that case, I'd tell you to take a look at the nitrates in your tank Wink Because I got this yucky layer of dark brown algae on my anubias at some point during my fish-keeping career, but that had really big leaves so I just scrubbed it off with a piece of cloth meant for my tank.
What kinds of plants and fish do you have and how big is your tank?
