Hi, I have a 6 year old goldfish that had recently (Sep 10th) gotten fungus/ hemorrhagic septicemia.  This isn't the first time that he has gotten this disease, but this was the worst it has ever been.  He would sit on the bottom and not move at all.    The one type of medicine (API E.M. Erythromycin) was not working and he was getting worse.  So I tried this new type called Tetra Fungus Guard (Sep 14th), that really helped a lot, he no longer has any fungus or septicemia, but now his mouth won't fully close, there have been no signs of swelling at all.  I noticed he was acting funny when we put the medicine in.  The medicine is an inch large tablet that releases medicine through a fizz and colors the water green.  I am afraid that he was spooked by the sudden change in the water and might have hit the glass and dislocated his jaw.  What puzzles me is that he can close his jaw half way, so that means that he can move it, but it looks like he has no control over it, so he can't grab his food even when it is right in front of his face.  Has anyone else tried this medicine and had the same results?  He hasn't been able to eat anything.  The water only stays green for 5 days, and this is day 4.  Once the water clears I'm hoping that he might go back to normal.  Should I try putting his jaw back in place?  If anyone can help me that would be awesome.  Thank you

I own a 10 gallon tank (2-3 years old)
It is just one fish
The temperature is set at 78 degrees
I preform water changes at least once every two weeks (25%)
I have a air stone and a filtration device

Yes scrivens is correct you need a 20 gallon tank for this fish.

About the jaw is there anything lodged in its mouth?
Are their wounds around the jaw?

Thank you for all your advice, I will definitely follow it as best as possible.  I got my goldfish from a festival, so I believe that he is a common goldfish, but I am not certain.  He is long (not sure how long, 2.5 inches maybe?), and slender, not a fancy fish.  I will try to get a larger tank.  There are no wounds near his mouth, just some residue from the fungus on his sides.  Hopefully he will go back to normal once the medicine is cleared up, maybe he is just stressed.  Thanks again.    <*)))><

In terms of growth and tank sizes, as Scrivens mentioned it is more than likely that your fishes growth has slowed. Normally we would recommend single tailed fish to be moved to a pond, but given yours is quite small, I would say a larger tank would be best until his much bigger.

For example, I have my common goldfish in a 3 foot length tank (it's around 90/100 litres) and she is slowly growing after being stunted from being in a small tank for a few months. She's almost 4 inches now and when she reaches 6 inches, I'll be re-homing her to a pond

You could perhaps look for a second hand tank (sometimes you can get filters and things with them) or a larger tank quite cheap (for example if your in america sometimes they do dollar per gallon sales in one of the fish shops) or you could always consider re-homing if you know or find anyone near you that has a large tank and could take your fish on 

aww, you did your best. i tried for a month to save my baby, all kinds of treatments and trying to get the levels in the tank normal but i lost her in the end. at least now i know how to do things right with goldies; my baby girl taught me a valueable lesson on caring for fish and i'm sure you can say the same even if your little one doesn't pull through. good luck hon. hugs!!

let us know about your goldie venus, hope he pulls through. they can be fragile creatures but i know at least my eva was a tough little bugger and fought till the end. gosh i miss that fish lol. i actually froze her body in a container of water and burried her on a hill by the woods on property that my family owns. the beloved family dog is also burried at that location, so my eva got pretty high honors to be resting there (:
