i have two fantail fish and a comet the comet keeps biting one of the fantail fish tail whats this all about

Your comet needs at least 20 galons and your fantails need at least 10 gallons a piece.
You probably have water quality issues too.  Test you water and post the results here.
Fin nipping is a common problem in an overcrowded tank.
You need in litres no less than 120 for your fish too be happy!

40 liters per fish is the answer. Goldfish usually get territorial if they don't have enough space. You'd better separate these of you'll have to deal with disease from all the physical damage.
Look for a suitable tank asap, 120-150L should do the trick. In the meantime, you can find a big plastic basket that you can separate the comet in. Tie it in the corner under the surface and put the fish in it.

I don't think a big basket would fit in only a 10 gallon tank! Undecided

It would... but barely. I'm not talking any huge things like... 12 inches across, but something... just so that the fish will fit, basically. "Large enough for the fish"-large Cheesy

I think a bigger tank may solve his problems and if the fish still was nippy then he could go with a Large basket!! Smiley

I think a tank divider would be a better solution in such a small tank.
