Beta sick??
« on: January 09, 2011, 12:49:37 PM » |

I have a male beta on his own in a 1.5 gallon tank. This morning I noticed him kind of 'flopping' on the leaves of plants and on the floor and didn't move round much, but he can swim fine. I took him out and changed the water. nitrate levels etc were fine, and put him back in, leaving only a thermometre and ornament in, everything else has been left out. Now he's at the top in the corner not moving. Temp is 70 degrees. There's no obvious signs of anything else from looking at him.
Can any one have a guess what's wrong?? Any more info needed just let me know.

Ugh...please switch to aqueon betta plus It will provide minerals that your betta needs as well as condtion the water. Anyway, your betta looks like it has a bit of fin rot going on...doesn't look healthy Go to Petsmart and get 1) aqueon water condtioner and 2) bettafix. Do more often water changes than once in awhile. You have to vacuum the gravel or bad bacteria will build up in it. Do at least 50% water.gravel vacs once per week, more often is even better.

I'm not sure how old he was when I got him from the pet shop, but I had him about 4/5 months
