Also according to Batal and Jenga curling over, did you read the link I gave you earlier in this thread?
Yes Hanna, I did.
Everyone - Ok guys, seriously. I know I haven't been that prudent with my water changes, but I ALREADY said that I would do it today or tomorrow. Remember how I PROMISED??? Guys, come on. Am I the only busy person on the forums? I really don't want to sound mean or whiny or anything, but I mean, really! I'm going to do it. Honestly!
Andrea - BTW, school for me is almost 9 hours long (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM) After school, I only have 4-5 hours, and I have to juggle schoolwork, violin, piano, two orchestras, horse back riding, and trying to get the occasional forty winks. I'm not a magician, I only have so much time.
Nossie - There is no Nitrite, so don't worry about that!
Guys, I don't want to sound mean or bratty or whiny or anything, really! It just gets a little frustrating with everyone telling me to get to work when I'm trying to balance school work and the brink of insanity with my music life and horse back riding.

Understandable but maybe you shouldn't have gotten goldfish then
I do 12 hour days and still manage to change my tanks water, but I know that I am busy that is why I do not get anymore tanks. You went out of your way to do this rescape thing of your tank but aren't being responsible enough to deal with the issues it caused. If I had that many extra curricular activities well I wouldn't get a tank in the first place!
Ammonia is toxic, your fish may die yet you can't make time for them and yes your excuses are true yet they are still just excuses to me. One must know what they can handle before they take it on!!
Also you want our advice yet you complain about it.

I know you care for your fish and I don't mean to sound like a b.i.t.ch but I just don't really care as sometimes you need to be blunt. Wait till your in the real world

OrandaLover,
Don't come here and seek our advice just to argue and yes whine when we give you sound advice.
Go to any other forum and you will get the same answers.
If you want to have healthy fish then find time for regular water changes.
In the time you came on here and typed your complaints you could have done one!!
If you don't mind having sick fish all the time and some dying then don't do the water changes!
Fish shouldn't have to wait for you to find time for them when their water is their whole world they live and breath in.
Sorry to sound harsh but sister, you need a wake up call!

We know you WILL do it. But DID you finally get it done?
I'm working 7 hour shifts every day, and I still squeeze in the two hours needed for a water change in the evening, sometimes after work if that's necessary. I know that sometimes one's just not in the mood to start carrying buckets around, but then you have to think that... "I chose this, so I'll do it." It's as simple as that
Have you bought the test kit and tested the ammonia levels yet?

I am doing it today after lunch. I promise, okay? That was my original plan
Also, I couldn't find the test kit at PetCo
but I'm going to a different PetCo in a couple days and will find it then.

By then the ammonia will most likely be gone anyway, so just concentrate on those water changes for now

Oranda Lover,
I'm not sure if Petco carries that brand of testing.
I know Pet smart does for sure!

Alright, thanks for the heads up Minde! I think I saw the test kit at the other PetCo one other day, but if it's not there I'll check out Petsmart. Thanks!

It's of course always good to have all the tests on hand if you'd ever notice problems with the fish or if you'd be setting up a larger tank some day

Or maybe NOT... you'll NEVER EVER know until you test.... I won't say anything to this anymore, sorry guys but I've been preaching on this issue for days also in other threads... I am just a bit over it I've got the feeling I'm wasting my time... creating stickies, explaining the nitrogen cycle and its importance and why we MUST change water, etc...all with no impact
I am very willing to help but only if I can see an effort

well there's always the weekend when you don't have school.
I would pick either a sat or sun to do the water changes!

Yup, I usually do my water change on Saturdays
Also, good news! I JUST did the 50% water change, and I am going to the store for the test kit tomorrow!

Good to hear
Just remember if you ever see any signs of ammonia or nitrites you need to do a water change straight away!!! Not when it is convenient for you
If the water is perfect wll then you can do water changes when they are more convenient for you
Hope you are going to pet smart like Minde suggested. Let us know

Hanna, don't go all grumpy now
It's not such a big deal. Sometimes people just don't listen/can't act as soon as you would yourself, or as fast as you'd want them to.
All of us are separate individuals, and we deal with everything differently and in our own pace. (Sadly though, some people just don't get it no matter how clearly one WRITES things to 'em...)

No, it's sadly about most people that come here once and ask for help, either get angry or simply refuse to understand what we're saying. They don't understand what "TEST THE WATER" means, and most of the time they get insulted when we're trying to clarify.

Hanna: I don't think you are actually really wasting your time, think about how many of us have stuck around and learnt from all of you and been helped by you guys. I am one of them
I only had the 6 gallon tank when I first came here and only tested my water when Sunshine was acting funny, I also didn't know much about feeding goldfish a variety of food. But I listened to you guys and now I don't think Sunshine could be happier.
Just keep swimming

I... honestly hate "Finding Nemo" it's one of the worst and most annoying movies I've ever seen xD (A few ears ago, been avoiding it since) Not sure why though o_O
Maybe I'm just so old-fashioned I refuse to accept 3D animated movies

hahahaha ♪♫ "no eating here tonight, no no no eating here tonight - you're on a diet" I love Dory and that scene is so funny when they sing this. Just watched this again the other night
It is in 3D Nossie? Not a fan of 3D myself - makes me feel sick and disoriented
