Scale loss
« on: January 31, 2012, 09:37:36 AM »

HI, does anyone know why my Orada red cap is losing her scales?  she seems quite happy in herself alhough does spend a lot of time sitting on the bottom of the tank but she also swains round a lot too. She lives with a black moore which is very healthy and has no apparant problems.

She might accidentally be getting hurt on the ornaments or something. However that's not much to worry about, just be sure that you don't have any that have sharp edges/corners, especially since you have a black moor as well, it might hurt the eyes.

If that is not the case, it might be water quality issues. How big is the tank and what kind of filtration do you have? (20 gallons with a minimum of 200gph worth of filtration to 30 gallons with a minimum of 300gph would be ideal for two goldfish). How often do you change the water and how much?

Go to the thread directly above this one called "For all newbies..." and answer all the questions it asks, we have no way to help without all the details.

cheri: It happens to me too Wink But I think the "For all the newbies" is a bit of a tl;dr... and it's not written in the best way :/
