Mixing Different Kinds of Goldfish
« on: April 02, 2010, 12:50:09 PM »

I have a common goldfish and was wondering if I could add a Shubunkin, Comet, Fantail, Veiltail, and Ryunkin Goldfish. Is this a bad mix?

Common goldfish, comets and shubunkins are all streamlined and very fast swimmers agressively.
The egg bodied fish are slower swimmers and certainly a veil tails long beautiful fins may become a source of nipping.  You might keep a fantail with the commons, comets and shubunkins, but the other fish I would not.
I know people do but you would have to watch carefuly that the slower swimmers do not get picked on and that they get their fair share of food.
