Ha ha! Well, I guess it's how much or little you want to cater to your pets needs! Smiley
Our dogs are spoiled rotten! Wink  I think they eat better than we do sometimes! LOL!
My freezer is loaded with fresh frozen food just for the fish! Cheesy
Seems I can't resist going to the store without getting new treat and toys for the pets! Grin

You are so right there Nossie, it makes home to be real home.
We had our house inspection yesterday ( as we only rent ) and the real estate lady was so amazed, she said it is so beautiful and she loves coming to our place. She chatted and stayed for about 40 min, wanted to know about the fishies, took pics, etc. She also loves my Teddy Bear room, lol... more money I can spend each time I see a cute bear, hahaha

I don't know about all of you but I think fishies are one of the best places to invest your money in! For isn't just seeing your little friends when you come home after a hard day just priceless??? Sure, we could save up for new furniture, or eat a little nicer every once and a while...but imagine life with no scaly critters to get ecstatic when you walk in the room. Imagine never getting to see them grow big and strong and get to care for something that needs love just as much as people do Wink that makes it all worth it for me, both my time and my cash.

Hahaha aww Mindemae that is soo cute but how is it possible?

I couldn't survive without any of my pets, I love the wagging of the tail of my dog when I get home, the chirps/squawks of my birds and the rapid swimming of my hungry fish. Or when I wake up in the morning just and see just the bottom end of Sunshine because she is head first into one of her plants trying to gorge herself Tongue So yes definitely worth the money.

Well, I put the betta in a plastic container filled with water and put it in a box with newspapers stuffed around it.  Pack his food and water condtioner and bring a container of water from home.  Then when I get to where I'm going, relatives house or hotel, I unpack the betta and put him in his bowl. It's really like doing a water change...easy peasy! Cheesy

Yeah, the goldfish are a different story!  I'd have to lug around at least a 10g rubbermaid tub with a filter and all. Wink
Altho, when I went to get Thor I did.  And then he spent a couple of nights at my sisters. Smiley

Thanks Hanna!!! Cheesy! Awww that is ADORABLE Minde XD! I have a friend who does that same thing. I'm gonna start doing that with my bettas now, since hauling along all my golden-scaled family members would be rather unachievable.

I read a true story once where this lady wanted to take her betta fish on vacation on a plane, and the security guard said "No, sorry but you can't bring your fish...you will have to flush it down one of our restroom toilets." So the lady went to the restroom and was crying her eyes out preparing to kill her pet in one of the worst ways imaginable. But she decided to shove her fish's container in her backpack and take it with her anyways. Somehow the fish was never detected and she made it with her betta through the plane ride.

To think somebody could be so heartless as to want to destroy a perfectly harmless creature...I could never be a good security guard Tongue

I would have done the same thing too! Angry
That's terrible that they would make a big deal out of one small fish. Sad
It might have had to do with amount of water she had in the container.  I know there are regulations to that.  I had a facial mosturizer that was too big per ounces and airport security  threw that out! Angry  It was a $40 moisterizer too!
Bettas need little water during transport.  More air is needed than water.  1/3 water to 2/3 air.  If you had a small container they might let that pass. Smiley

How are fish reacting to flying? Like, aren't they bothered at all by the pressure?

See, there's this BIG and WONDERFUL Pleco named Janusz Wink That my fiance's brother wants to get rid of, and I would be so happy if they could ship him to me somehow c: He scared all **** out of me when I was there the first time xD Looking at the mollies and swordbearers and all of a sudden, a big black pleco mouth was right in front of me on the glass! Shocked

Well don't planes sorta equalise out the pressure so it doesn't affect us? I guess it does now that I think about because people have to wear those socks  Undecided I'm sure plenty of fish have flown before though. Is he too far away to drive it to you?

Oh gosh yeah fish can be shipped anywhere!
The calico oranda I wanted was imported here to the us from china!
I'm sure someone didn't drive him here! Wink
On the downside, I would be most concerned with the cost!  Might be expensive to be air flown! Shocked

Hanna: Karma to you!!! That was a wonderful statement which I fully support. <3

When you're on a plane carrying a water bottle and the pressure gets higher, you can open the water bottle and it will make a hissing sound because it's been constricted. I wonder if that happends when fish are on the airway...

Fish flown from out of country I think are pretty pricey...not only do you pay for the fish itself but probably some of the airplane fees are incorpirated,  making the fish shoot up rapidly (economically speaking). That's why most stores probably buy fish bred here locally instead of internationally, even though you can find more exotic goldies out of country. I would love to own something totally unusual like one of those "crowned" goldies; you can't really find them around here...but we can be happy with the fishies we have now, even if they are a little more common.

Thank you Goldiegirl  Smiley Karma to you too

According to fish flying, I was told when they import fish, they are cooled down so their metabolism is very slow ( talking about goldies now ) packed in layers on soft tissues in a polystyrene container and shipped all over the world.
I believe with other species it is different again.

Well also, in some cases they actually add a mild tranquilizer to the water in the containers/bags, so the fish won't be so stressed. Smiley
They also put pure oxygen in the bags that are shipped.  Depending on the size of the fish, I guess with pure oxygen and the tranquilizer the fish can last up to 10 days! Shocked
The tranquilizer is used to reduce heart rate and breathing, reduce metabolism, so the fish can live comfortably on the oxyen in their container/bag longer. Smiley

KARMA ALL AROUND!!! I just love reading how much all of you adore your fishies and other wonderful pets. I haven't taken a vacation or been away from my house for more than a day in 14 years because I can't stand leaving them behind  :'( they are like children that never grow up and only ask for our love and care. No worrying where they are or how much money they are gonna ask for. They rarely get in trouble with the law but heck even that's ok because they are all so darn cute! Have a happy Halloween all of you good and kind people ♥

Oh before I forget, here is a fun little link to a tank designing program that is free if you haven't already encountered it Wink

Andrea: He's around 1400 km away... so yes xD

I'll most likely not even bother with it, since I'm sure they'd rather flush him in the toilet than give him to me d:
