new plants, new plants, new plants!!!!!!!!!! :D

So I got some new plants today which I bought online! They were must cheaper then buying from the local pet store and surprisingly they arrived in better condition too!
Its night time now so the photos probably aren't the best...and also my camera kept running out of battery lol.
Let me know what you guys think! I will take some full tank shots tomorrow.
And on another note I am saving up to get a new goldfish tank, as I am sure many other people on here are probably doing
! This tank is only a 40 gallon so I want to get at least an 80 gallon tank so I can buy some more fishy friends. Then I am going to use the 40 gallon as an African cichlid tank =)

Hahahaha thanks Hanna!
Yeah I am starting to get a real addiction. It seems every time I go out I end up buying something for the tank or for the goldies!
And now 2 fish tanks just doesn't seem enough...lol
It will be good to get the goldies a bigger tank though, I am sure they will appreciate it. Did your babies settle into their new home ok?

They certainly did, THANKS ABBIE.
And it looks so much nicer and brighter with no scratches in the glass. As you know I use the old tank now to grow plants, see how I'll go....

Yeah scratches are horrible
I am trying to use nice soft sponges to avoid scratches! Those magnetic cleaners always seem to scratch from my experience.
Are you growing plants that you can eventually put in your aquarium or are you growing a plant display tank?
Do you keep the plant tank outside?

The tank already was scratched when we got it 2nd hand... was sort of emergency buy for our goldies...
Yes, I try to grow some for the aquarium and I keep it outside

What a lovely assortment of plants!
I love real plants, makes the aquarium look so much more natural.
I love rocks, and stones, and driftwood, well anyway...the cichlid tank sounds exciting too!

The plants are really beautiful!
Hope they'll last now
Woo, African cichlids, eh?
You've got some research to do
They're pretty tricky fish, but so beautiful! I'd love to have a few myself
But now I'm more motivated towards another 83 gal and a few oscars, pearl cichlids and plecos

Thanks guys XD The goldfish love exploring and swimming through them but they haven't started eating them yet...lets hope it stays that way!
Yeah I have been doing a lot of research the past week, reading online and asking questions on forums and such.
I think I might be going with a single species tank of Pseudotropheus saulosi which are these little guys:

The males are very aggressive so to ensure they don't harass the females or attack the other males you need to have about 2m to 8f at least in the tank
so I was told.
I really would love a bristlenose pleco too they are the cutest. But I'm not sure how it would go with the cichlids. A lot of people recommended it but some people say that its not a good idea

Abbie the plants are gorgeous! Could you post the link to the site you bought them from? I have been searching for some nice live plants but all the stores around me they look pretty sad and snail infested. Not that I have anything against our little 'slippery' snail folk, but I don't want any in my tank and certainly don't want to kill any

Well I'm in Australia and you're in Canada, yes? So you probably won't be able to buy from the same seller.
I got them from a seller on eBay (

There are actually a lot of sellers on eBay who ship worldwide. Just be careful when buying from overseas because the plants might get stuck in customs and then they probably won't look too lively when you get them lol.
I'm sure you will find someone selling plants within Canada though at a good price
Erghhh snails I have a snail infestation in one of my tanks. I don't want to kill them so I collect them and take them to a swamp near my house lol not sure if they will survive there though, they just lay eggs like crazy!

Full tank shot. It will look better when I get a stronger light and the plants grow more.

Thanks
Yeah that seller in particular is really good. I received the plants 3 days after ordering. If you buy from him make sure you offer him less than the asking price because I got like $8 extra off the total.
So far my experiences with buying plants and fish online has been very successful
