Sinking Common Goldfish, Red Faced
« on: January 02, 2016, 06:23:54 AM »

1. How big is your tank:  Gal / litres 30 gallons

2. For how long has the tank been set up:  3 months

3. How many fish: Was 5 but Gourami died last night

4. What kin of fish: 1 Common Goldfish, 1 Pleco, 2 tiny Cichlids (New 2 weeks ago)

5. What are the water parameters:    Ammonia.........ppm  .25
                                                            Nitrite..............ppm  0
                                                            Nitrate.............ppm  0
                                                            pH..........................  6.8-7.2
                                                            Temp...............degrees Celsius / Fahrenheit  79 degrees Fahrenheit

6. How often do you perform water changes: typically every two weeks but have done it every other day since Gold became sicke

7. How big are your waterchanges:      25-50% although I did a 75% yesterday

8. What kind of waterconditioner are you using:  Tetra AquaSafe

9. Do you add beneficial bacteria: I have not

10. Symptoms your fish is showing: Gold sank to the bottom but would sporadically get up and swim but two nights ago he did get up and swim.  He did move at all but was breathing, I did a 75% water change and he has moved from spot to spot a few times but no swimming.  Now his face has turned red (it was white). The Gourami I had started sinking last night and then died.

11. Since when does your fish show these symptoms:    Gold started about a week ago sinking periodically.

12. How is the normal behavior of your fish:  Gold would always get crazy when he would see me, very active.

13. How do the other fish behave:  My Pleco is hiding (typical) and the Cichlids appear normal.

14. Post pics of the sick fish:

15. Do you have a filter on your tank, what kind, how big (gallons per hour) I have a Penguin 200 bio wheel

16. Do you provide extra aeration with an air pump and air stone/diffuser of some kind. I have two stones with pump

Blue (my Gourami) died last night, he started sinking, would get up and swim and then sink again.  He sank and took his last breath.  I'm concerned I exposed Gold, Stinky (my Pleco) and Blue to something when I brought the Cichlids home. I feel terrible. The only other thing I did in the last two weeks was to change 25%-50% water and a filter change.
