Just done a water test, the results are:  ph 6.6, Ammonia 0.50ppm   Nitrite 0ppm    Nitrate 0ppm.     Not sure why it is still like this, I have done another water change and added "Nutrafin Cycle" a  Biological Aquarium Supplemant. i have purchased some aqrium salt, do i use that at  all?

 i have put the benificial bactiria in, but will put another bit in.    i use bioactive TAPSAFE as a water condioner, is that ok?

The pH is low because your aquariums waste system built up so much that your eco-system crashed.  All the good bacteria died and left your fish swimming in sewage water with high ammonia.What is the normal pH of your water? Just by doing water changes it should adjust and by your tank cycling and you adding the beneficial bacteria to your filter media, it should come up by itself.  With the ammonia being so high it is good the pH is lower, makes the ammonia a bit less toxic for your fish.

I think everyone has answered your questions Please don't worry about ph, it is the least of your worries. If you did a water change yesterday, I would do another one tomorrow. Keep doing one every second day or every day until you see no ammonia, it may take over a week but it is very important. Don't touch your filter media, only clean that when it is really necessary and only half at a time!

I'm glad your other fishie is doing better and so are you for Christmas Have you named the fish yet?

He WILL eat loads eventually He's just sick now so it's understandable that he doesn't eat much for now

By the way, my fantails weren't that interested in food when they were younger either, I fed them and they ate, but they weren't even close to as mad as they are now They can just hear me walking by and they come to feeding corner like maniacs
