MY NEW 75g TANK AND NEW BETTA!!!!!
« on: October 18, 2010, 10:00:32 AM »

Ok, I tried!!! Embarrassed
Not too good of pictures but oh well at least you can see the new(old) tank I picked up for $100.
It came with everything you see except the fish of course!! Grin  AND a really nice fluval canister filter that hides away nice under the stand cabinet! Smiley
AND last but not least my new betta.  I love him.  He is a crown tail and the first I've ever owned!! Smiley
So now I have a total of 4 bettas!
1 10 gallon hospital tank up and running for the sick fish.
1 20 gallon tropical tank
1 30 gallon pond fish tank
1 55 gallon oranda tank
1 75 gallon pond fish tank

Aww...thanx Nossie! Smiley
It's not that hard to take care of the tanks.
The bettas take 5 mins to change the water...real easy! Wink
I kept the 75g pretty plain so they would have more swim room.
so just a big old swim through log and some live plants along with 2 fake ones.  that's about it! Cheesy

Do you ever feel sad putting the pond fish back outside? I bet they love it out there and I bet you love your pond just as much but sometimes a tank can be a bit more personal than a pond if you get what I mean Undecided, plus you can see them better.

I love your crown tail Smiley I want my betta to be like that when I eventually get him.

Well, Andrea, the answer is no, I don't feel sad putting them out in the pond. Smiley
I actually look forward to it.  The pond is so beautiful and peaceful to sit by and watch the dragon flys land on a lily pad.
I love going out there in the mornings and sipping my coffee and watch the fish swim about as they search for the food I threw in.
It's really good for them too to be out in the pond where they can get a taste of freedom and what it is like if they lived in the wild.
Sometimes in the early morning I watch them have their spawning frenzy and it is so facinating!
I bring them in the first part of october so that I can see them during the winter.  I wouldn't see them all winter because they would go to the bottom of the pond and I wouldn't want to sit out and have my coffee in the am in the cold and snow!LOL!  I mean I like my fish but not that much! Cheesy
I know what you mean about seeing them better and you do in a glass aquarium vs a pond.  I can really see them so clear through the glass and observe them better it is true, but if you could see how happy they are when I release them come spring into the 250 g pond, they swim so fast and far.  In the 75g aquarium their swimmming is limited to a degree and they can't stretch their fins quite so well so to speak. My sister in law has a nice pond full of kois and goldfish. It makes me think I want one too. Smiley A  koi pond size for all my fancy goldfish. That means plenty of swimming space for them. Cheesy

Aw wow, it really does sound nice and I completely understand you. There would be nothing like just being able to observe your fish first thing in the morning, so relaxing Smiley Oh and I can understand why they love it, very natural. I love seeing fish in ponds but I also love my tank Cheesy

Hi  there Pappy! Smiley
Thank you very much!  One year my husband bought me the barrel ponds for my b'day and then the next year he bought me the big pond.  That was 11 years ago!!  So some of those fish are over 11 years old and some are offspring of them.  If you scroll up to the picture entitled Biggie, that is one of my 11 year old fish and the mom to some of the smaller fish.
