my new fish from goldfishconnection auction
« on: December 14, 2010, 08:16:13 PM »

Hey all just wanted to show my new fish I will get on Friday. Won the first is a mousehead pearlscale, calico ryukin and small ranchu my 5 yr old begged for for Xmas. I won these in last auction he had.  The last picture is of my favorite a crown pearlie that I wanted so badly I instant bought it, was afraid someone would instant buy her, was watching it constantly hubby asked what I was doing I told him, he goes you really want it that badly? I said yes he goes ok buy it now for your Xmas (I just bought him a wall projection tv for Xmas so he's feeling generous lol). So yippee I got it.

He ships them in a box, insulated and in bags.  I think ups or usps.

Egg fish are like ranchus minus the head growth Smiley They also tend to have longer fins and less arched back, but it of course depends on the individual fishie...

Those fish are beautiful Smiley

Maybe if the two crown pearlies are opposite sexes I might try to breed them. My ranchus already show signs of mating habits. Poor Cupie, the biggest ranchu ( one on my avatar) all the boys chase her around and nudge her sides.

Hey teensy can I tell you how I usually have better chance winning one I want. I don't bid on it till last 15-3 minutes all the way up to last second. I get them cheaper this way. And with holidays I bet will be less people bidding on Sunday between being out of town, shopping, being broke lol. But hold off on bidding. Bidding wars drive price way up because people have time to think about if they want to spend more on a particular fish. As long as your computer fast enough to do it like that. Warning site almost always slows down at that time because of people all bidding at once so keep that in consideration.

It rare you will see me bid a fish till end. Only reason I will is so I can drive price to where someone cannot instant buy it.
Have only bought one fish ever on instant buy and that is last pearlscale photo. To give you idea. Cupie doll the large white ranchu on my avatar, was a no reserve auction, well I waited till last minute to bid her and got her for $55 and she was 6 inches. He had her listed on instant buy at $400 or around there. Got really lucky on her.

Good luck all on winning your fish. Thanks for all compliments on my
New babies. Can't wait to get them.

I guess I'm confused. Huh
How did you get to win these fish when the auction isn't over yet without doing a buy it now?
Or weren't all these fish listed?  I thought they were maybe not.  I'm confused!

I seriously don't understand how you have all the room for these fish  Huh I don't think I know anyone with this many fish especially goldies who need more room than tropical. Also you must be rich to first off afford these types of goldfish and then to have all the tanks, filters, products for them. I am poor because of my goldfish  Cheesy

Great advice! After we put our high bid in both my honey and I realized we should have just done the $5 increments, and then just wait until the auction ends. I have been trying to see what fish he had and everytime I would log on to look at the pictures, the link was broken, then all of a sudden my honey stumbled upon the auction site. I love it and the fish are amazing.

Does he let you select which one of the days the fish can arrive? His delivery dates are the 21,22 and 23. Since it's really cold out I would hate to win one, and then come home to a frozen fish stick. I'm off on the 23rd and I thought If I won one or all 3, that would be the day I wanted it. Naturally, I'll be filming the entire process from opening up the box to floating the bag to the release.

Yes he always let's you make sure you will be home. He will also use heat packs. Hope you get your fish. I have a fish that when I got him he was just like that littlest black ranchu. I have had him since late July. I can post a pic of him if you want to see how he developed.

Sorry I took so long to reply to all your comments. I found out my 40 yr old favorite cousin was killed by a drunk driver while he was on his motorcycle Monday night. He was an army ranger who served two tours of duty in Iraq, one in Afganistan, and several he could not speak of. He was a well loved guy who left behind a family who loved him dearly, a 22 yr son who just had to be called back from his first tour in Iraq (we are a military family just about all men and some of women have served for a least 4 generations) a 19 yr old daughter and a 9 yr old son he was raising by himself.
Such a tragedy for a decorated war hero to be taken from us because someone had to get behind wheel drunk.

RIP Christopher

Minde, I won the first 4 on auction that ended few weeks ago. Ken had let me put off having them sent so I could look at next auction and would only have to pay shipping once. But he had family emergency last week and had to put off auction till this past Sunday. Only fish I got from this auction is the last crown pearl in photos that i did instant buy (first time I ever sprung for instant buy).

Andrea, I have a 90 gallon, 75 gallon, 40 gallon (12 yr old daughters will be upgrading to a 55 soon)a 20 gallon and a 10 gallon setup. I have 2 -55 gallons a 40 gal and 3- 10 gallons off to side waiting if I need them which I don't quite yet and setting up a 10 fir the little ranchu Maycee (5 yr old) wanted for Xmas. I plan on selling some of them can get another tank in a snap on craigslist and i havd product that i have great success with cycling my tanks within 2 days  So when I count my fish I have at 10 gallons per fish almost exactally the room I need can actually fit one more (this is all including new ones). I do water changes every 3-5 days depending on tank. I have Filteration on 90gal that is good for up to 245 gallon so more then double. On 75 have enough for 210 gallons. And all other tanks have at least double filtration needed.

As for being rich lmao. Not quite my husband is a master sergeant in the air force so we do ok but by no means even upper middle class.
I have used only money I have earned buying tanks, filters, decorations ect for cheap on craigslist then I clean them up piece them out and make them look great. Then I sell them for profit have always made at least double to quadruple money back. So except for the original set of tanks and equipment I bought for $150 the $150 Eric spent on the 90 gallon he bought for bday and this last fish I am getting for xmas, all other fish and equipment have come from profits I have made on craigslist. That is only reason he ok with all of this.
I used to gave horrible insomnia and had to take sleeping pills. Well since I put tank in bedroom I haven't needed any. So that helps him accept also lol.

Hope that answers all you guys you questions Smiley hope I didn't miss any.

Aimee,
So sorry for the loss of your cousin, really that is so sad.  May he rest in peace.  He sounds like a wonderful and brave person.
I hope somehow you can find peace in all this.  It's a terrible tragedy and I feel so bad for his children. Cry
May your family somehow find peace and comfort.
Sorry for the misunderstanding of the fish you won LAST auction...that certainly clears up the cobwebs in my head.
You probably mentioned it and it went right over my head somehow.
Darn I was hoping maybe Ken would make me a good deal like  I thought you got! Wink
All my tanks are used!  I love used tanks.  I have fixed up tanks too and resold them.  This last one I got free from someone just wanting to get rid of it and everything.  Said she didn't think the hobby was for them. Undecided
That's one place I don't have a tank, is the bedroom....now you are giving me ideas.. Cheesy

I am also very sorry for your and your families lost, that is such a horrible event to happen and may he rest in peace.

I've always found plenty of second hand tanks but never second hand filters, but I'd be a bit scared of them anyway as I'm not to sure how to clean them correctly. Looks like you have a great way of going about everything with some very lucky and amazing fish Smiley I hope they can make you happy during this time of your life.

Aimee sending you and your family love and prayers and hope that you will all find peace in time after having gone through this devastating event. It makes no sense in situations where one person's choice to drive while intoxicated destroys the life of a loved one.  Your cousin sounds like he was a extraordinary human being. His memory will shine on and all his accomplishments and how he influenced many in his lifetime, will resinate throughout all he leaves behind. My deepest condolences to you all.

Thanks for all your condolences. I really appreciate it.

Andrea. I was afraid of used filters (my first one I bought on craigslist but was new in box for half price) but couldnt afford new fif all extra filtration i wanted so i learned from alot of people online that if you use bleach and water to clean filter then rinse many times and let air out for at least a day it is perfectly safe. And for deposits of salt or hard water use white vinegar. I was scared to death to reuse the ceramic rings and bio balls on the Eheim professional filter I got but several people on keepers and ken told me to just wash them a lot with vinegar rinse many times. Or if really worried use very diluted bleach on the media then rinse and then soak with water that has chlorine remover water treatment in it, rinse again and again lol then let sit for awhile. Because that bio balls and ceramic rings cost about $30 a box and my filter came with like 3 boxes worth of each. I have had no problems from any used filter I have purchased even one that I actually used that media from. I understand the worry I tell ya but I have learned to become a cleaning freak lol. I have gone through more bleach and vinegar than I ever thought I would see lol.

Well I did it! Smiley
I bid on some fish from Ken's auction on Goldfish connection.
The reason?  Because I am sick of getting sick fish at petstores and actually shipping these 3 fish was cheaper than my 1 1/2 hour drive to the petstore.  The fish were $15-$25 which is less than I would pay at the pet store too.  They are being shipped over nite air. So tomorrow morning they will be delievered.  I've never done this before and am as nervous as a cat on a hot tin roof!  LOL!
Ken is really very very nice and all his fish come guaranteed.  He personally calls you after the auction to set up a time that is suitable to you to receive the fish.  So far I am nothing less than impressed!
Thank you Aimee for walking me through this and holding my hand!!  For the countless instant messages answered and the questions through PM on here, I am truly grateful.
Well if you are curious here are pictures of my new fish...
