Spider plants
« on: April 07, 2012, 11:17:28 AM »

I currently have no real plants in my tank and wouldn't mind getting some real ones when i have the funds. Anyway, i read somewhere that you can put spider plants in water and they will thrive and root. I have a spider plant that has a few babies hanging from it. Would it be safe for my goldfish if i cut off a few spider babies and left them floating on the water until they root and then plant them in the tank? What does everyone think?

I don't think spider plants are aquatic plants that can be fully submerged. Most likely the plants will rot if you fully submerge them in water so i don't suggest you put them in with your goldfish.

No, you should avoid that. Java Ferns are really cheap plants and they'll grow very quickly in the right environment... Smiley
the right environment being a tank where a goldfish resides to create nutrients for the plants... Wink

I'd agree with the others, buy aquatic plants Smiley
I have some Elodea Densa in my tank and it's grown lovely! It was only 1.50 for the large bunch I originally brought Cheesy
