MY NEW TROPICALS THAT CAME WITH THE TANK!
« on: January 08, 2011, 03:05:55 PM »

Oh brother, my husband went to pick up the 90 gallon tank and came home with about 100 fish!
LOL I'm a bit overwhelmed.  The filters are filthy so had to order replacement stuff for them...ahhh...it will all get sorted out.  In the meantime, I'm trying to identify some of these fish!!  There sure are alot of corys and plecos!!!!

Well, the guy said I quote" would you interested in a FEW plecos and corys and a couple of angel fish!
I said sure!  I'm think ok, 2 angel fish and maybe a couple of plecos and a few corys....maybe 5-6 fish in all!
LMAO SURPRISE!!   My husband comes in with three huge buckest!! Some had plants in them lol!
I'm like
well hurry up then, lets get this thing set up quick!  Ha ha we worked until almost midnight on it and then went to be and got up at 3 am to check on them all.  Only one didn't make the stressful 5 hour drive.  One baby ciclid...poor thing. Sad

April, LOL, I know who MissH. is bwahahahahaha

MINDE, wow, CONGRATULATIONS... hahahaha I just can imagine your face seeing all those little beauties.

The corys seem to be Corydora Sterbai, if their white pattern is on dark skin. They are one of the more expensive species, easily confused with C. Harald-Schultzi, which are the opposite colouring white skin and dark pattern. Cheesy

awww, Fantailer, don't be jealous!  When I was your age, my parents wouldn't let me have pet fish either!
One time I won a comet at a fair and my mom made me keep it at my grandmothers house. Undecided
So see....when your as old as me you can seek revenge and have a million fish! LOL! Wink Cheesy

Hey! I have a great idea!!!  Show them my list of aquariums and fish and then say "see what will happen if you don't let me have a few fish!"  LOL! Wink

Good idea! My parents will give in if they get bored of nothing for a really long time. After 6 years of having no pets my mom got a beta. I'm happy for that! Cheesy

I just watch in awe at all the activity in this tank!  I think I'm in love, again! LOL!
OMG the angel fish follow me around like puppy dogs as I walk past the tank, beggin for more good treats.
Guy I got them from said he only fed flakes.  well now that I fed bloodworms and krill, they are all my best friends! LOL! Cheesy

Haha oh well, good on you Minde Smiley

The corys with the grey and black spots are most likely peppered corydoras, which I've kept a few of at some point too Wink
The plecos... there are so very many of them that I really can't recognize those two! xD However, one of them looks a lot like my gibbiceps, (The large spotted one hanging on the glass) and so... you should watch out for his growth! In the end he may be 50cm + and really, really territorial.
But it looks like there's more red to his tail, so he might be a completely different kind Smiley
One of the plecos, the small one in 2 plecos.jpg looks so much like a hieroglyph pleco! :O I'd be so happy to have one!! I love those Smiley You could go post the same pics on plecoplanet.com if you want more certain answers Smiley

I disagree with peppered corys, they look much like mine C Sterbai.

The only thing I cannot really make out on the pic is if they have light pattern on dark skin or invers.
If the first is the case then they ARE Corydora Sterbai.

I think they all keep breeding! LOL!
Can different cory's interbreed?

They do. And if they feel well and healthy you also will notice a green fluorescent shimmer on their sides.
First pic is C. Stebai.

Not my choice to put discus with Ciclids but hey, they've managed to get along ok so far.
I'll have to keep them well fed. Wink
