Hi sparkly-puffball, I found that with our last two fish (Bowie and Snowie), after we brought them they were placed in a small quarantine tank that we put on our breakfast bar that separates our lounge and kitchen, the fish soon became used to us probably because we are always around the place and they were getting fussed over a bit before it was time for them to go into our tank or ponds... these fish now have no fear of us and start begging and carrying on whenever you go near the tank... cheers > Ron

I always had my fish pretty close to the couch Smiley That way I can talk to them, and they can keep an eye on me no matter what I'm doing Wink They usually start off very shy, but it usually doesn't even take to the end of the quarantine period until they start reacting to my voice and twirling about for me Smiley

Best tip I'd give would be: Talk to them, all the time, and especially when you feed them, that way you and your voice will mean something good to them.

I have my tank in the middle of the four most busiest rooms. So they know people's voices and body are good so they follow people who go by and the perk when they hear voices.

yeah she's still growing Nossie, I think she got bigger in the week I was away Cheesy ... she really is wonderful, I cant believe the growth she has put on, and I think it's her new varied diet, maybe its the pea's (thanks to you all here for the advice, posts and the stickies) to be honest she has some very plump fillets attached to her sides, lol  Wink but she should have no fear, Im a vego, hehe... anyway we will be getting her a new home soon as she is clearly outgrowing her old one.... and fantailer, she is well on the way to a foot long, maybe I should think about that when I am looking for her new home... cheers all

Thank you for sharing the articles, I can't believe he's so huge! The lady in the first article mentioned something about "exercizing" goldfish to help it get bigger...how would one go about doing that? I guess you could always get a bloodworm or something and move it around the surface of the tank just out of reach...  Smiley

Fish leash? Tee hee! xD

I think one secret is giving them a lot of space so they have to swim from one side of the tank to the other to grab the food Wink Mine go surprisingly fast from one end to the other when the pellets/bloodworms/veggies touch the surface... xD

But I think that fish exercising might be worth looking into.. c:
