determining gender

Hi, How do I determine the gender of my two goldfish? I bought them from the tank in an aquarium store. They seem to always swim together. When one swims away , the other will not be long in following. One of them would assuedly get pregnant. Pehaps the are too young. One is much bigger than the other, more agreesive. Another question is that I bought at the same time a loach. I call him Gollum. He is constantly attatching himsef to the goldfish when it is feeding time. He attatches to the gills. Is this little sea monster trying to get a quick lunch?

The larger goldfish has grown much faster than the smaller one. It seems as if the smaller goldfish is always finning the other. They seem quite enamored but that does not nessisarily mean they are opposite sexes..Do they need special conditions to lay eggs.. I just transferd them from a ten gallon to a twenty gallon tank. They seem very happy. They have taken on quicker swimming habits. Even gollum is swimming quicklly.. I decided that to facilitate their swimming abilities, Im leaving one side of the tank obstacle free. The other side is a three holed collum which they love to swim through.. I am told that goldfish like cover,, I must disagree.. They seem to enjoy the freedom of the extra space to display their rapid swimming movements..

mywolf-
I think your questions were answered concerning how to determine the gender of your goldfish. I'm not sure i understood your other comments about goldfish liking cover and then enjoying extra space, but having some decorations will tend to make the aquarium look nicer and calm the goldfish by giving them some cover to hide.
I do not recommend mixing other species of fish with goldfish, since other species can be carriers of diseases that are harmless to them but can be very lethal for goldfish if they get infected with these diseases. Things such as the loach attaching itself to one of the goldfish like you described can also occur and an injury can result.
