Hi,
How do I determine the gender of my two goldfish? I bought them from the tank in an aquarium store. They seem to always swim together. When one swims away , the other will not be long in following.  One of them would assuedly get pregnant. Pehaps the are too young. One is much bigger than the other, more agreesive. Another question is that I bought at the same time a loach. I call him Gollum. He is constantly attatching himsef to the goldfish when it is feeding time. He attatches to the gills. Is this little sea monster trying to get a quick lunch?

The larger goldfish has grown much faster than the smaller one. It seems as if the smaller goldfish is always finning the other. They seem quite enamored but that does not nessisarily mean they are opposite sexes..Do they need special conditions to lay eggs.. I just transferd them from a ten gallon to a twenty gallon tank. They seem very happy. They have taken  on quicker swimming habits. Even gollum is swimming quicklly.. I decided that to facilitate their swimming abilities, Im leaving one side of the tank obstacle free. The other side is a three holed collum which they love to swim through.. I am told that goldfish like cover,, I must disagree.. They seem to enjoy the freedom of the extra space to display their rapid swimming movements..

i am new to havin gold fish an i thought one of my fish had white spot but now there are tiny bubbles around top of my tank i dont nknow if they are eggs an one fish is at the top all the time are they eggs an how does the male fertilize em

Karen: Goldfish lay their eggs in plants or simply on the bottom substrate (or in a spawning mop, but that's another story), so... it's a very small chance that the 'bubbles' you're talking about are eggs. But it still doesn't sound too healthy with that "staying by the surface all the time"-fish.
