Aquarium question

I have an injured goldfish that I am placing in another tank, away from his bullying pals. I have let the new tank complete its cycle and it is ready for the fish. I would like to add some aquarium salt to the tank water to help the injured fish heal. I have never used aquarium salt though and I need to know when to add the salt. Do I add it before I put the fish in the tank or after and how long before or after do I add it?

You can add it before or after you put the fish in the tank, really doesn't matter. I would dissolve the salt in a small cup first , then pour the content into the tank .  If the filter is running, pour it in that area where there is a lot of water movement and the salt should spread quickly throughout the tank.
