I am desperate. How can I over winter my Goldfish when my garden pond has somehow developed a massive leak and the water is disappearing dramatically fast. The weather is about to freeze in a few weeks and its impossible to establish where the cut in the pond liner is. I'm terrified I'll wake up one morning and find the level has gone down so much that I've lost some or all of my fish. I have several goldfish, ranging from 10" long to this years babies of just one inch long. I also have large Comets, around 12" and some medium size Shubunkins, about 6-8" long, total number of fish 14 and they're very loved !!!!
We are topping up the pond level daily with tap water and a pond solution called fresh start to correct the tap water for the fish. Obviously this cannot carry on all winter. Could anyone advise me how I can over winter the fish outside of the damaged pond ? Can I buy a large tank or maybe a bath to house the fish for a few months whilst we totally re-do the existing pond. I know I will have to change water often and still feed them if I take them indoors. Could an old bath house them outside whilst they are dormant and would they survive with relatively little space, obviously I would use a pond heater to prevent it from completely freezing over. I'm at my wits end that I'm going loose them all, we've had our pond and stock for 10 years now, they're part of our family.

Like orandagal said a large swimming pool might do the trick, or a large plastic pre-formed pond, you can get rectangular ones.
If you have a garage or large space then putting it indoors would be more ideal as I'm not sure how the outside of a pond or pool would manage if you get bad snow or freezing temperatures outdoors.

A swimming pool would be much cheaper than a preformed pond as well

Or another option would be to grab a cheap pool or other tub large enough to house the fish and buy new pond liner, then you could move the fish into the pool/large tub, empty the pond and then lay the new pond liner over the top of the old one, then move the fish back in to the pond once you'd filled it back up.
