So finally!!!! here are some pics of my new tank and my lovely fish Smiley

The tank is around 60gal... we got it made specially, it is square about 3feetx3feet so the fish have a lot of room to swim around. As we have no wall space (as most of our walls are windows, we have made it into a coffee table.

It sits on some 2 inch solid wood as a stand with some closed cell foam (sleeping mats) to seperate teh tank from the wood. We built a frame to support the lid (isnt sitting directly on the tank and has rubber buffers) to keep virations to a minimum.

The comet you see is Fluffy... the other two, I am not sure if they are comets or commons... I suspect they are a cross...

I rescued these fish after the big earthquake in Chch recently... I never expected tehm to be so much work and DEFINATELY didnt expect them to be so rewarding... (i rescued a human too but he is turning into a nightmarer... that is another story though lol)... I am a sucker for waifs and strays, but always the best of care at my house if I possibly can Smiley

First pics are before we built the frame, the others are after Smiley If you can tell me wheher the smaller fishies are comets or commons I would be grateful!

P.S there  is more gravel in there now Smiley we had to save up a bit to get some more... will try to get some better pics when I get back home in 3 days Smiley Thes little guys are camera shy and swim away when I hold up a camera... sorry Sad

Bf is varnishing the frame this week so should look even better!!!!! The lid lifts off easily and one of the sides is on a hinge so we can easily feed and water change... the fish love it compared to their old 10gal tank Smiley

It is like having a pond in my living room... It is great!

wow thats a nice set up and a neat idea... I bet your fish are happy now Wiki (or is that Kiwi Wink )... I am always amazed at how good silicone is at holding all that that glass together under the pressure of all that water... good karma for saving the fish, hope you remain earthquake free (although I think you had another this week)... I am not that experienced with goldfish ID, but the tails on the other two (or at least one of them) does seem to be to big for common goldfish... cheers > Ron

What a great idea! It really is a bit like an indoor pond Cheesy The fish look pretty much like all comets, commons have very, very compact and stiff tails compared to a comet Smiley

Wow that's cool! And yep, the fish are definitely comets. They must be super happy to have such a wonderful home with a caring owner  Wink

Thank you! The fish seem soooo happy with it too! The only problem I have is that the bubbler is super noisy in my living room... I may build a soundproof box for it...

Wow, your tank looks amazing.  At first I was already 'that was nice' to see that it was a square tank, and then I become, amazingly nice when it was a table.  Cheesy
