I am so excited! Later today i am getting sent around 40 baby orandas from a friend i met on goldfishkeepers all he is charging is $15 for shiping isnt that so nice. They are the offpring of two award winning fish that bruce shows around the United States. They were born on september 5th. I just thought i would start a thread to follow the growth of them on here if anyone is interested. I figured this will be experience incase i decide to breed my ranchus and orandas. here are photos of mom (pic #1) and dad.

I have the tank space. when they are little like this you have alot together and keep up on water changes. thats why i set up the new 55, moving fish out of 75 gallon into it and adding a couple to my 90 gallon will overstock me in the 90 by about 3 but 5 of them are 3 inches and under and i do waterchanges at least 2 times week. water stays clean longer than that with the major filteration i run (i run enough to cover about 250 gallons lol) but i take no chances with the wens on these guys bacteria gets under some of these large loose wens easy.
i have a small local petstore i will give the less quality ones as they start to grow more. And i want a couple my mom want couple, i girl i have become friends with at petsmart wants few. I also have a online friend wants one, i have the packing from ken so i might try to send one to her for cost of shipping. I have several people i can get advice on how to do this. So they pretty much going to have homes. They should be getting color within next month. most of babies will go in 75 and i am also going to pick about 5 -10 of best looking ones and put them in my 20 gallon quarentine tank so i can watch them closer. i waited to get them older because i was afraid i couldnt handle doing the culling. they are about an inch or less right now so i have plenty room.

Well babies came a day late and around 10 of them acting funny and lost one tiny one. The 5 bristlenoses babies he sent didn't make it guess extra day was too much.
When I get chance will post video they are too cute and teeny lol.

Yes you certainly can have some. Once I grow them out a bit my mom wants first pick after me but after still alot left. Have one lady that wants couple but other than that was going to give them to my favorite petshop. I will let you know when ready to rehome some.

Finally got some video. First one is of the midsize and a few larger, second is of tiny ones that my daughter is going to raise.
Pappy if you would like some early so you can grow them yourself I can give you up to 10 right now if you would like. I will bring like 20 for you to choose from.

Also the reason why I don't put the males and females in the same tank so there's no babies!. I know I can't bring myself to cull the babies. Sad

here are some pics of them now. last pic of the tank. i have 15 now have rehomed the rest and lost a few tiny runts that just couldnt hang on and one that had swimming issues. Pappy stick a video or pics of yours please love to see how they developing.

Mine don't look like these yet only two changed colors so far. The smallest ones I still have and the flawed ones (deformed mouths) I'll probably lose them eventually. Sad Cry

Thanks all for compliments. Yep lots of fishies but lots of tanks too lol, but its closer to 39 I have 24 + 15 babies. plus i have a new one coming soon (will make a thread with some pics asap). But with babies i will keep maybe 2 my mom wants 2 and minde wants some come spring. the rest will be found homes also once i grow them out some more and get idea how they are developing. Its going to be really hard to give them up. I cried other day when i had to pick 10 out for friend that is manager at petsmart fish department. at least i will get to be updated on the progress on them and pappys and eventually mindes and moms. so far havent had to give any to a strangers yeah!

Pappy i had 3 change color but two of them have the fused mouth problem one the lady took other i still have it the orange and black one. and other one i had died. and i assume those tiny runts (smaller then smallest you got) probably had that, they gave up poor things.

fantailer, i am going to try my first shot at shipping when weather gets better around spring. Mindemae and I been working on best and safest way to do this. Once i have it all figured out and have done it succesfully I will be willing to ship. I plan on attempting to raise some babies from my ranchus and possibly from my butterflys i got around xmas so will have to learn lol. Are you interested in these babies or asking about my future broods lol?
