PICTURES OF MY DIFFERENT TANKS
« on: June 20, 2012, 06:32:26 PM »

I took some more pictures of my various tanks.
I have a 90 gallon freshwater tank with clown loaches cichlids, and an angel fish.
An oranda tank.
a Ryukin tank with Egbert my eggfish in it.
and a plain orange, orange and white, baby ranchus tank.
Sorry I'm just not very good at taking pictures of moving targets.LOL! Cheesy

Wow that freshwater tank must be a beast to be able to keep clown loaches!
Are those baby cichlids on the bottom? Man I love cichlids, one day I'd like to have a tank with Firemouth's or one of the Apistogramma variety...  Grin

Hi there,
Oh those ARE cory cats on the bottom. Sorry forgot about them.
I call them my dither fish.  They keep multiplying. Cheesy
I also have some diffent plecos in there not sure what they are but something keeps having babies in that department too.
There is a golden nugget pleco in there but he hides in the jug decoration. then there are some teeny striped and polka dotted plecos in there and a giant blue eyed thing.  You can kind of see him sitting on the back of the intake tube.
Just two clown loaches.  Their buddies and pal around together.  I actually had only one but one day when i bought a piece of driftwood with a plant in it from petsmart, surprise! a clown loach had hitched a ride with the driftwood. Grin
It's a 90 gallon tank and I bought it from a guy and he gave me all his fish with the tank.  Smiley
Can anyone tell me what kind of cichlids those are?  They have flags on their dorsal and tail fins and they do have an irridesent color with red and white stripes on their fins, which didn't show up real well on the pictures

Hi Fantailer,
Yes they did but I didn't take pictures because they are out in the ponds.  Smiley
I only have 2.  One has a bent tail and they are both all orange.  I had one bigger baby survive until last summer this bird came along and plucked him right out of the pond and ate him.  It was a large black bird. Darn it, it was my nicest baby too! Angry

Hi Minde, did you just say a blue eyed catfish?! Could it be a Blue Eyed Panaque? I read an article just the other day about those and over here they're quite hard to come by.

As for the cichlids... I have seen that one before.... After looking around could it be a Geophagus Tapajos?

Cambonjr I think with Cory's it depends on the type of gravel? They may be okay with smooth gravel, but sand I imagine would be best because of their barbels.

i kept corys in gravel, but it had better be smooth and pretty fine so that they won't hurt their mouths looking for food Smiley All our Corys have grown really big and really old, 5+ years each Smiley

Blueberry has grown so big! <3 She's beautiful! And I see Bobby as well, and Thor? Who are the other orandas? From goldfishconnection? Smiley
Such lovely tanks all of them! Cheesy

Skwishee, Yes, thank you! That is exactly what my 2 cichlids look like.
I think they are so pretty with their candy cane stripes.
Old Blue eyes the Pleco is rather evil looking.  the guy I got him from said he paid quite a bit of money for some of the plecos and fish.  He got rid of everything cuz he lost his job and they  had a new baby and he could no longer afford to keep them. Cry
I really wantd the tank for my orandas but then it came with all these fish which have grown on me.  He asked me over the phone if I would want "a few" fish but I came home with 3 buckets full lol. Grin

 Nossie,

The gravel is small and smooth and round,  not to worry.  I've had the cory cats and the tank for over 2 years now and they seem to be multiplying so I would say they are fine with the gravel.
Yes that is Blueberry and Thor and Bobby and the other red/wht orandas I got from Paul from Ranchumaniax.com.  The little red oranda, still a baby really, I just got from Ken Fischer of Dandy Orandas.
Thank you for the kind words and compliments. Smiley

Wow, that's awesome about the catfish. I was reading an article in lasts months Practical Fishkeeping magazine that says how rare the blue eyed panaque is, because it's a rare fish to be exported. At least currently in the UK it is anyway!
Some of the info is here, if you're interested; (Link is not visible to guests. Please register to view.)

Scrivens,
Why bother posting at all here then?
That was really rude and yes, you did mean to "rain on my parade" or you wouldn't have even bothered posting in this thread. Angry

That was mean scrivens. You know the saying if you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all. Plus your comment that ranchus are very genetically modified well I saw on your list of fish you have ryukin and oranda which are very genetically modified also. Its all really what is pleasing to a persons eye, I can understand that maybe they are unpleasing to you but really wasn't nice of you to say it on Mindes post.

Ladies, calm down. A forum is meant for opinions, no matter what they may be.
I think ranchus are adorable, but I can't handle bubble eyes or celestials because I find it cruel to mess with their quality of life this way. Imagine staring into the tank lighting all days? Ew Sad
Besides, scrivens could have been a lot more rude about it than he was, I think he presented his opinion in a really nice way. I have books that call all fancy goldfish disgusting, like orandas or telescopes.
