That is just terrible!
That is a horrible way for a fish to die being flushed down a toilet!
That's how come I have so many goldfish! Every time someone says "I don't want my fish anymore, I think I'll just flush them" oR "feed them to my cat" I say "Ill take them!" And I do!
Don't people know that when you decide to take on the responsibilty of a pet that it's forever and they are responsible to make sure it has a good life, or at least give it away to someone.
Nossie,
Can't you talk to them? They could at least run an add or post an ad at pet stores.

Think about how many dogs and cats get dumped each year and generally people care more about them than fish, so unfortunately I can see why this happens. It's horrible of course and I 100% agree with you Minde, people are just selfish and uncaring
It's very interesting what you wrote about how they can be transported about. I guess they have to do that alot with saltwater fish as I know alot of them are captured from the wild. Do you reckon more fish are shipped or flown? Flying sounds more stressful but it is much quicker so maybe it is actually less stressful. I wonder where my fish came from

Well, here in Aussie we do have our own Goldfish Farms, one is Boolarra in Victoria, but fishies still need to be flown here and there as Australia is such a big country. I think the same in Canada, US, etc.

Hanna: Oh, that's a rather personal matter, I guess
Could tell you on private message if you want
Minde: It's the kind of issue where I can't and will not talk to them xD Again, could give you more info in messages if you're interested! But I could ask my fiance to handle it for me
I'll talk to him about it

April: Thanks for the link! Never had run across that website before, found it very entertaining and spent 10 or 15 minutes just arranging my dream tank
Karmaaaah!
Interesting, Minde, reading about the travel process. I had no idea they tranquilized them! Fascinating. And good that they add a ton of all too important oxygen.
I think flushing a fish down the toilet ESPECIALLY WHILE IT'S STILL ALIVE is downright cruel. If you must put down a fish because for some reason you are unable to care for it you should at least first look around and see if someone is willing to take it. Save death for the very last option, and if you must put down a fish you should put it in the freezer. The fish go into a state of hybernation and softly fall asleep, slipping quietly out of conciousness and then dying peacefully. Then you can give him/her a proper funeral <3
Nossie: I'm sorry about whatever happened between you and your relations
they'd have to be pretty idiotic not to give the fish to you considering you're about the best person who could own him!
Seriously how could anyone in their right mind dump a dog or a cat or EVEN A FISH. All creatures are important and deserve love, care, and someone who appreciates them. That really gets my dander up when I hear about abandoned or mistreated animals...

Goldiegirl: I agree! (Now I had to try out that program too xD) I just... I'm almost certain that both the pleco and all the others will end up being flushed in the toilet, and the tank will be dumped somewhere to collect dust |:
It's such a waste!! They're all so beautiful and everything and I bet that especially the pleco could live for years still if one'd only take good care of him!
It really makes me sad |: If I only could I'd go there and get him myself! But that's... pretty much out of question
I get so stressed out when I hear about some id*ots torturing kittens and whatnot, even snails! (I've seen videos of people trampling them for fun) And that's... just horrible. I can't in any way understand what in the world would make them do that. Not to mention, how they can lack the respect for life! I wonder how much fun it'd be for these people to be locked in a small room with nothing but a piece of crisp bread. I am so angry at that kind of lowly ******** |:

Nossie,
I think that is a great idea, about letting your fiance talk to his family. If there is already animosity between you it's best unforunately to stay out of it. They might get so aggitated that they will flush the fish just out of spite. I hate people like that.
That is just selfishness and imaturity.

Lol, who knows! They're starting drama for nothing, that's for sure! D: And unfortunately, they don't really like my fiance either, which is completely unreasonable to me, but that's how it is, and... we'll simply not live with it. They can stay in their corner of the earth, and we'll stay in ours
but MAN, is it unnecessary, neither of us ever did anything bad to them so I really don't get it to be honest
Hopefully though, he'll get somewhere with it :'D
But it would be just like them to flush those fish just to b*tch at me! D: It really, really frustrates me :C

How cruel of that security guard. I understand they have regulations to follow, and in recent times, security has become tighter in US airports (or anywhere for that matter), but to ask somebody to flush an innocent fish is horrible.
That guard should have been flushed!
