Rescued a little betta today!

Just perusing around the walmart pet section, I ran across the fish cruelty aisle. Right there, front and center, was this horrible looking betta with beautiful blue and red fins. He was laying on his side, just floating in his own filth. I couldn't leave him!


I scooped him up, and he is already looking much better in his new bowl.

I love fishies  Grin

Here he is! He looks red in this picture but is actually blue and red. (Or supposed to be...) I'm hoping his color fills in as he heals up.

He made it through the night and is swimming around just fine now! Amazing the come back he has made from floating on his side yesterday to swimming around like a normal fish! He even tried to eat a little.


Now he needs a name!

How sweet that you got him out of that horrible place.  My daughter is begging for a betta but she has a dog already so I'm not prepared to do it until my 2 butterfly goldfish are out of qt, too much to keep up with till then.  He is a cutie!  Smiley

How about Lucky?  Cause he sure is lucky you came along right?!?! lol

So all Walmart had to do was give them fresh water?  Wow, they are so lazy!  They think they can just replace these fish by having more shipped in, and throw out the dead ones?!!  It makes me mad.

I'm just curious in case I want to get one like you did... did you have to add any fin repair meds or anything?  Or just put him in the clean water?

I decided to name him Merlot, because his colors remind me of red wine, with the red and purple Smiley))
