Not to disturb your plans but those fish sould be in a 30 gallon tank. But a 20 gal works with a really goood filter (ask other people about the 20 gal because I'm not sure
).

Totally agree, a 20G would be rather small for all three fishes you have there (one is even a comet). I am slowly filling up my 30G and I plan there to have 3 fishes (with a comet and a shubunkin). And even with this I will be overstocking the tank. I will be adding a second filter though and an airpump to help the fishes out.

well this tank was given to me. (cant complain too much)I did buy a good filter for it. I think I may aim for a 40 or 50 they are more in my price range. I did see some nice tanks at pets mart that i drooled over. as they get bigger i'll defintly invest in much larger tank. I also got a lionhead it was so cute and a female betta she just looked so elegant.

"Good filter" means what? How much water is it pumping per hour?
Considering that you have three fish in there, you'd need something that pumps
at least
ten times the tank volume per hour.
So if you'll say that it pumps anything less than 200-300 gallons per hour, you'll have to go and by an additional filter.

I am still planning on getting a larger tank the comet is going to stay in the current one and the fancy ones get the bigger one. (i didn't know comets grow to 12 inches long ) so not to worry this is a tempory housing for all of them. I really am eager to get a big tank. I am hoping I can get one at a good price.
