New member of family a oranda yay

hey guys got a oranda yesterday hes is soo fat and big .heee got the cubbest checkes He checking out his new home .bubba kisses him .he is the size of a half a football .i think he is still scared of me i tried to tickle his checks but he ran away.he is pretty new he is from petsland about 14.99 and got some veggie pellits .he still has trobble seing the food when he ate this morning .his ween is ok .maybe he will come oruound like bubba .bubba lives to be tickled by the glass .i will fing a pic on the internet  to see waht he looks like k.i wish i could play with him but seemed scared.probably because of the big hand?

Well congrats on the new fish! Smiley
Keep checking your water parameters to make sure there isn't an ammonia/nitrite spike and the bacteria load is handling the new waste load from the new fish! Wink

Because he is in a whole new world and remember every goldfish has a different personality! I have one crazy goldfish and one very chill/shy one. You should just take a photo of him and share it instead of finding one on the internet  Wink

I believe the only reason he's a bit scared now is because he's not used to you, or being handled in the same way as you do Smiley Just give him time, talk to him by the tank when you feed him or watch him and he'll get used to your voice and start associating it with food = good thing Wink
In no time he'll be happy to have you close Smiley You could try teaching him gradually to start eating from your hand first, which again would let him get more used to you and your hands Smiley

It won' t take long for your goldfish to get used to you.  one of my goldfish got used to me in a couple of weeks!

Congrats on your new family member. Sounds adorable. Please do try to tske a photo and post it would love to put a face on that cute description. Has it seemed to open up to you more yet? I have noticed that the bigger and older goldfish seem to take longer to warm up to you and get used to their new home. The 6 in ranchu I got took a good week to adjust and the 4 4.75 inch one took about two weeks. But the little ones under 3 inches usually take a couple days in my experience. Does anyone else notice this type of pattern?

I haven't really bought any older fish aside from Mr. Big Wink And maybe the orandas were pretty big compared to the fantails Smiley All my fish have gotten used to me really quickly though Smiley

My fish usually get used to me in a matter of a couple of days. 
Of course maybe I just got lucky and bought smart fish! Wink
They quickly learned which hand that feeds them! LOL!

In my case I honestly think it's because all my big fish were shipped and big fish take longer than small to recover from shipping or at least as far as I have noticed and have been told by ken from goldfishconnection, so I bet that is why. Was always curious if was same with store fish. Hey maybe bubbas fish were just shipped to petstore.

My pearlies arrived to the shop the day before I bought them, and both are already quite curious about me and my fiance, so I don't think that's the issue Smiley
