Another option with veg you could try is brocolli  My goldfish loves that stuff. I put a little stalk of frozen brocolli in to a dish filled with some water, cover it and cook it in the microwave for a few minutes, then let it cool in a separate glass of water  Or if I'm boiling brocolli to eat, I'll put some aside. You could always try frozen or freeze dried food, of various bugs and things. I personally have freeze dried tubifex and frozen daphnia, but you can get lots of different types of freeze dried and frozen food

Most sources strongly advise against feeding cheese and meat (other than fish and insects).High fat foods can contribute to constipation.. The last two fish I bought were constipated when I got them and I resolved it by feeding them only peas and canned pumpkin- for one fish it took five days.
How did you know they were constipated?
