Newly Aquascaped Goldie Tank!!!!

AT LAST I finished re-doing the goldie tank - all five of my beauties and the pleco ended up spending 2 hours in a five gallon bucket. And now my fingers are all prunes from me sticking my hands in the water so much!!!  Grin

Anyway, I posted some pictures of the process, from the very beginning and at the very end. Every one's happy now - I'm satisfied, the goldies are swimming around and nibbling at the new plants, the pleco is munching on the driftwood, and my parents are just glad it's all over.

Oh - by the way, I couldn't find all the plants that you mentioned, Nossie, but I used: Crested Java Fern, Peacock Fern, Tropica Fern, and Kyoto Grass. Take a look at the pics!

Haha, in two of the pictures, my awesome doggie decided to investigate the fish's temporary home. Don't worry though, the fishie's are safe. Chuck doesn't get sushi today!  Cheesy

The cloudiness will go away as things settle down.
I love the plants and when they really start to grow it will be so beautiful.
I like the color of the gravel all mixed together like that too! Cheesy

Thanks Minde! I'm really happy with it - and you're right about the water, it just cleared up a few minutes ago.
I thought it was really cool with the Kyoto grass, because I bought two of them, and each split up into three sections so now I have six!!  Smiley

I'm not sure what kind it is - I got it about two years ago, and I don't remember what was on the tank's tag...  Tongue He's getting quite larger than he was two years ago though! But he's been growing slowly (I need to give him more zucchini! LOL  Cheesy)

I love the setup and the mixed gravel lokks beautiful. All fishies are happy chappies now, lol.

BTW it looks like a BN-pleco, just like ours.... basically they are shoaling fish....

And actually, bigger than before O_O Can't wait to see pics later when the plants have settled and started growing Smiley

Lots of plecos have similar patterning and body shapes as Ancistrus, I'd say the pics here aren't "good enough" to tell exactly what type it is yet Smiley

Yes, news. And not very good news either.
RIP Batal. I think it was internal parasites, like with Jenga. I was so upset! Came home from a concert today to find little Batal passed on inside one of the decorations - and I thought new water and real plants would help him  Huh Oh well.........  Cry
I am going to get Anti-parasite and Anti-bacterial medicated food ASAP! The next time my parents get something from Amazon (pretty soon, I hope, since X-mas is just round the corner!) I will ATTACK the computer and order fish food!

Yes, that's right even tho you must feel bad about losing now batal and first jenga, Your tank will be a healthier atmosphere for your remaining babies! Smiley

Yes, I am very fond of my little girls and guys. And I have yet to find out which babies are guys and gals! I suppose once breeding season comes, the males will show their breeding stars, right??

ooh, I'll definitely be on the lookout for stars then!!! But mine are still only about 1 inch long (nose to tail base) so they probably have to get larger??

Lol, Humphrey and Skippy got their first breeding stars when they were about 12-14 cm big, this was a couple of months ago.
But I stil think they need to develop a bit more. My guess is that our two Golden Boys are about 1 year old now, and our Golden Girls in between 1 year ( Hepsiba ) and about 10 months ( Matilda and Sunshine )

It is also good to have some bushy floating plants or a spawning mop in the tank.

Does anybody know about aphrodisiaka for fish ? ? ?  Grin

Live foods use to be a good  breeding trigger for most fish Smiley Along with heavy feedings and adding warmer water during the water changes/raising the temperature in the tank slowly Smiley
