It wasn't really cannibalism as much as dying from stress and malnutrition I think... :'|

Skwishee: I use to give them a little pinch of food at a time until I see that everyone got at least a few pellets each! Smiley Needless to say, there's really no way to overfeed such many fish since there's always someone that will be happy to grab the extras... xD Since there are quite a few of them that are pretty big and need more food for that reason Smiley

Thanks Smiley I once did have all the color pallet, I had a few black ones, chocolate goldies and calicos along with the red and white ones Smiley Now it mostly is only red and white fish (and two calicos) there, but all of them have interesting markings, so I'm happy Wink
I was going to call a farther away pet shop and see if they have any dark orandas for me to take home, and if not, I'd ask them from where they got them... c:

Yep, that's most likely the problem!!

Noticed by the way that Berry doesn't like sharing the spot light with the new fish Wink She tends to get a bit cranky for the first day or two when I introduce any new fish... Wink Such a little drama queen Cheesy (Or maybe a big drama queen considering her size?)

I just saw this thread and Nossie, your tanks are beautiful, I"m super jealous! After all of your posts and knowledge, you should totally own/operate your own aquarium store.  Do you?  If not, you should and if we lived on the same continent, I would shop there.  Smiley

Aww, thank you so much, Ireiden Smiley
Honestly, I was thinking about looking if I could get a job at the pet shop here for the winter... I think that would be pretty much of fun! Cheesy And it's pretty close so I could bike there in like 10 minutes... c:

I really hope you'll get that tank soon, I bet Dolly would be so happy with some company! Smiley (Especially by an adorable little chocolate oranda!)

Thanks a lot! Smiley
It was actually a pretty random arrangement... I started off with just the chunk of mopani drift wood and a few Java ferns and anubias, later I got large bunches of java ferns from the community tank at my parents' place and last I was asking around at my favorite pet shop and trying out various plants, this set up seems to work! Cheesy

I found a giant moor in the shop... *shame on me*
It's a perfect fish, lovely tail and fins + a deep, round body Smiley And of course that velvety black color.
Haven't named him/her yet, but my fiance calls him/her "Sauron", since it's black with big eyes... xD
4 inches long, and Berry seems upset that she's not the biggest in the tank anymore :'D
Wish I had space for the two buddies, fantails of the same size, one calico and one red Smiley

Off to change the water! Cheesy It's that time of the week Cheesy

I know! She's as long as the pleco counting the tail! Shocked

Decided to name her Raven by the way Smiley (I call her "Korp" in Swedish though, I think it sounds prettier Smiley)

That moor is gorgeous! Cheesy

I keep seeing these beautiful shubunkin in shops that I want to take home!! Although it's my own fault I must admit when I have nothing to do and I'm near a pet shop, I just kind of end up in the fish section XD Taking a peek.... It must be exciting to bring a new fish home  Grin

I hope Berry isn't being too much of a drama queen Wink But man your pleco is pretty big! Very nice colours... Haha I just spotted a snail too.... how big are your apple snails?

Thanks a lot Smiley

My snails are different sizes, the biggest one is about 4cm across the shell, I think, and  the smaller ones are about 2,5-3cm or so Smiley

The pleco is now 18cm long, he was 7cm when I bought him Wink

Goodness, what breed is he?

My dad kept ancistrus catfish in his tropical set up when I was a kid, they were awesome things! One was brown and one was white (possibly albino?)  Cheesy

Sailfin pleco Smiley

Both corydoras and ancistrus (along with several other types of catfish and tropical fish) have been bred into some albino variants as well, so it's not entirely impossible that he had one of each Wink

Nossie, how many gallons do you think an ancistrus would need?

Ancistrus won't be any bigger than an absolute max of 8-10 cm, so thinking two liters for each cm on that would give each fish 16-20 liters only, this is 4-5 gallons per fish only Smiley They also quite enjoy company being so small, so we've typically kept them in groups of three or more. They breed readily when they're comfortable Smiley In your 10 gallon I think you could fit 2-3 of them without any bigger problems since they're not territorial.

You can keep one male or a sexed pair in a 60L tank, but you would need a much bigger tank to house two males as they are very territorial.

Yeah, sorry, I forgot to mention that the guys are territorial :'D I've usually kept them in groups of one male and two females.
