I bought a baby bristle nose yesterday, he seemed fine, came out at night to eat some algae, then back in his little cave. Just found him dead, no sign of infection disease or anything.....this is a mature stable tank.....sometimes they just die

Yea, smaller fish especially tropicals sometime will die for no apparent reason, even if you have a planted tank with near perfect water quality with zero nitrate and ammonia. I think in your case it could be just stress from being shipped and moved around so much in such a short period.

Yes, it's always difficult with animals. One never knows how they have been treated, if they are sick or not. Lately I haven't really been happy with any of the goldfish I've been seeing in the stores...I'm still waiting for that special one to pop up.
