How could somebody do something like this, this should be animal cruety, I understand the piranha has needs but atleast have it dead, and the people in the backround just there smiling, I would have done something

Well, I guess to them their piranhas are more important to them than a goldfish. Cry
People buy feeders all the time to feed to their big fish like this or snakes or turtles.

Although, one of my acquaintances was keeping piranhas and I saw them being fed with a piece of frozen fish meat. Which, if you ask me, would be far better and nicer than feeding a living fish to them Undecided
Some fish are predatory, but there's plenty of food available for them that doesn't have to live! Different types of freeze-dried worms, shrimp and even fish plus a whole bunch of frozen foods, so I really don't understand the logics in making one animal suffer when it doesn't need to.

When I'll get my second tank with Oscars, I'll be feeding them only frozen fish Wink

Yeah Hi there, it was a video of some piranha oweners feeding a live goldifsh to them and laughing while is occured, they aldo do it with live mice, really cruel
And I understand if the mods feel the need to delete the video

I can't stand the fact that common/comet goldfish and even fancy goldfish as feeder fish, I love all kinds of goldfish. If I have the power to do something about it, I would ban all goldfish to use as feeder fish.

That's not very realistic... I mean, why do they have feeder fish available now, unless people actually buy them and use them as food for their carnivorous fish?

My sister doesn't like the fact that shrimp are being sold as fish food (dead and packed), but I find them a good part of my fishes' diet. And so, I will keep buying shrimp Cheesy

You need to let people have their preferences. (But I don't support feeding these fish alive as food.)

I've never seen feeder goldfish here, not saying people don't use them as feeders but I've never seen them labelled as that. The fish at the fish shop I go to mainly have some other fish labelled as feeder fish but I have no idea what they are and they don't always have them  Undecided

I haven't seen feeder fish available here, but then again, this is Finland, and we always have a bit less extensive ranges of things concerning aquariums and fish-keeping Smiley

I know it's unrealistic but I just I don't want my favorite fish as food for other fish.  Sad
The other day when we were at our LFS I saw a tank full of Arowanas and they were chasing the "feeder" goldfish in the tank. Some were already in their mouths I was so disgusted. And then there were two goldfish who were trying to hide and get away and one Arowana was relentlessly chasing them. I felt so sorry for those fish. It was a horrible experience to me that I decided then and there that I'll never ever own a fish that I have to feed a live fish, period!

Thats awful. I see tanks at the LFS packed so full of feeder fish that they can't hardly move. Wish we could rescue them all. Guess its a circle of life thing but i am too softhearted i say lets break the circle lol.

If it'd help, I would be happy to grab a fistful of feeders and put them in a nice big tank somewhere somehow and keep them as my own Smiley But since... well, I can't reach to America... xD
All we can do is to keep the goldies we have and get a few new ones occasionally and do our part as good fish-parents! Smiley And simply enjoy their company and take the best care of them! Smiley
