Hanna,
It is simply lovely!
May I suggest a gravel color? I would do black and brown and white all mixed together. The bits of brown would pick up from the colors in your room and the stand. The lovely dark colors would show off the beautiful colors of your fish and the white would be a great contrast to all!
What is a home inspection? Sorry to be nosey but I am curious.
Is it a Australian tradition? Or are they inspecting for giant spiders! LOL!

In between the hood and the tank we'll have glass to protect from condensation, etc. Also to protect the light.
To add brown gravel to the dark one sure will look interesting and yes, it'll blend with the furniture... elegant I'd say
And I do have white pebbles.
CANNOT WAIT TO SEE IT RUNNING EITHER, LOL
The real estate, they do inspections of rentals every 3 month, to make sure the tenants do not destroy the property.
When they came the first time, they were amazed, that all is nice and neat and tidy and we said to them, "well, what do you expect, we're living here, we want to feel comfortable and enjoy this home as long as we are renting it: we'll treat it as if it is ours..."
The real estate lady was very surprised hearing this and she said, " you cannot imagine how some other people live..."
And well, in the meantime we are sort of friends, we're chatting and she's asking if there are repairs to be done

Ohhhhhh I got it.
Well here in the states they do not conduct inspections unless they would get a warrant and have probable cause.
I think it would be considered an invasion of privacy and there are laws to protect renters this way.
Well I wouldn't want someone coming to inspect my home every 3 months but that is good that you and the real estate lady are friends. And glad you passed inspection!!!
That new tank is going to be wonderful for Hump and Heps. They'll be so happy in a bigger home!

You're pretty lucky you are able to have any pets in a rented house Hanna. A few of my friends live in rented houses and they are allowed a strict ZERO amount of animals. Though there is another friend who rents and has two fish tanks, three birds, two dogs and a snake and it's all good with the owners.

Well, the tenants before had a dog, it chewed the doorstep at the back porch, so the rendering is breaking off, but the real estate lady knows tis is not our doing.
Fishies are fine, as they don't chew the renderings or scratch the curtains or walls, LOL, they don't bark...
... but they throw stones arround.... in their little tank

And we started to aquascape it, hunted around for a bit of brown gravel, as it is not very popular. Hard to find but we managed

also want to let you know that we found our SKIPPY today, we both seen him and loved him straight away at first sight, so did he because he just wiggled at us like mad
. He's a beautiful comet too, white with only a few red beauty patches and a red horizontal line through his dorsal fin, much the size like our Humpsi and Hepsi.
He still is at the pet shop, cannot wait to introduce him to all of you

WOW! IT'S BEAUTIFUL!!!
You should crack open one of those bottles of wine and celebrate.
Hey Hanna, I just thought of something! One of my very favorite wine is from Australia. It is from Lindeman's, their Chardonnay.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR COMMENTS.
It really was soooo exciting to set it up, we drove from pet shop to petshop to get the best things, and we combined real plants with a few fake ones.
I still am excited, so much that I couldn't sleep too much, especially having SKIPPY left in the petshop. He did cost AU$ 17,50.
We did have a red wine yesterday
... and yes, while we were living in Germany, our preferred wine was Australian too, lol... and still is. Lindemans and Penfolds are one of the best
Sure, we will show the tank's metamorphosis to the lady we bought it from. Also the petshops want to see the change, ... well, all documented, LOL

OMG it looks sooo good Hanna. I've said this before but I'll say it again, I want you to design my next tank
What plants did you add? I like the idea of adding fake plants too and I really like the dark gravel too, I was thinking about adding black gravel to my new tank as I;ve seen it around. It just looks soo good, like a tank you'd see in a book
Hump and Hep really are some of the luckiest fish and soon Skippy will be too, thought I was hoping for another name starting with H hehe
He sounds quite expensive for a Comet.

I lOVE the dark gravel. I have it in my 55 gallon tank. It really shows the goldfishes colors off!

Thank you Andrea, no worries, I'll help you designing it. The bushhy, lush green plant in the corner is Hornworth, the other ones (taller ones) I need to investigate
the small ones are fake. The poster on the back is like a feature, it gives the tank depth and also hides the hoses and leads. The tall plants I put in front of the filter, so it is more or less hidden too
And as Minde said, the dark gravel is a vey good contrast to the golden fish, and it was Mindes idea to combine the black gravel with the brown one to blend in with the brown furniture , THANKS MINDE

Yes, Skippy was more expensive because of his size. We will also get Matilda for him. My hubby wanted some genuine Aussie names for the second pair, LOL: Skippy and Matilda

Hello all my FISHY FRIENDS,
thought I post a couple of more pics, now with really all completed.
Our wine-hoppie (kangaroo) on the top and because the stand hasn't got doors I bought some baskets.
The water was pretty cloudy yesterday and today it starts to clear, so after this, I'll do some tests.
Also have a close up pic of this floating ball plant.
... and just to let you know, while I was doing the dishes, Humpsi and Hepsi were observing me all the time and eyeing
towards the new "old" tank... perhaps wondering and wishing this will be their new home soon, LOL

I meant to ask you this the other day Hanna and it may be another one of my silly questions. But how did you add the water without all the plants and gravel going everywhere?
