Overstocking calculator GREAT Tool
« on: September 20, 2010, 09:19:17 AM »

This is a great tool to see if you are overstocked or not. Use it to check before you get that fish you always wanted. Also give compatibility and other recommendations. You can put in your filtration system also and it will let you know if you have enough or need more based on your tank size and livestock. Really Cool.

Saltwater version has the most common livestock available (not all), freshwater version has a very intensive database tho.

Looks like a really good calculator, but my fish are producing just fine on their own.  Roll Eyes

I think it takes into consideration how big they CAN grow which is great to consider but I don't think my four year old comet is going to grow like 25 centimetres (10 inches) long  Undecided

Same for me! xD And that was when I picked the two filters, an 83 gallon, and 8 goldfish d:
not to mention that I checked for lulz how many guppies I could keep in the 30L, and the calculator said that "IT'S HEAVILY OVERSTOCKED!!" "They will outgrow their tank!". Guppies? They grow to be at most 5cm, and I kept millions of them in a 20L bowl when I was a kid, they were breeding and growing really big and were healthy and active Smiley No filtration either, mind you d: I was changing the water instead.

Ha, it sais it for me too, also to do 91% waterchange per week or 2 times 70% waterchange per week and almost 300% stocking level.

Tried with my Kara comet lady and 10g tank and it is overstocked as well. I'd rather say its calculations are rather generous with the space recommendations. Though I am in the right direction searching for a larger tank.

But a 10 gallon tank ought to be enough for one fish Undecided
Although, I support your decision Smiley Since you have a comet, and comets are really fast so they require more space than fancy fish Smiley I'd add 5-10 gallons extra for them, since they grow longer too! Cheesy
