rate of growth fantail

Hi, what is the rate of growth for my little fantail goldfish?  They predict he will growth to five inches.  How fast will this happen, days, weeks, month, years?  Thank you

In a year, most goldfish will have reached a length of between 3-4 inches maybe, but it depends so much on how much food they got while they were fry. Some don't even grow as big as 5-6 inches.

It doesn't matter how big the fish is right now either way when it comes to providing space. So if you're wondering for instance, for how long you can keep it in a 5 gallon bowl, the answer is: 2 hours or less. Lol.
Any goldfish, no matter the size, need a minimum of 10-20 gallons of tank space.

Mine didn't take long at all to grow! Smiley  Less than a year for our shubunkins and comets.

Shubunkins and comets are not fantails, Nicole Wink And they grow considerably faster and eventually bigger than most fancy varieties Smiley

I found out from the original owner that our fantail F.B.s age is around 6 years and she is now pushing on towards 7 inches... Ron

I have heard that an inch of growth a year is typical for most fancy goldfish, though I don't doubt the ammount of space each fish has in its tank will influence that.  Roll Eyes
