lost his lovely colour-feeding swimming normally0other 10 fine-any suggestions?

It all depends on the age of the goldfish. More mature goldfish sometimes change to a duller color shade as they grow older. This is completely normal. As long as the fish is still eating and behaving normally , then it should be ok.  One thing i would check is the water parameters to make sure the ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates are all in the acceptable range and they aren't causing any problems for the fish.
