Pearl Scale babies <3
« on: December 02, 2010, 10:10:07 AM »

HULLO! Here's Noss again Cheesy

Right now I'm quarantining two beautiful little pearl scale children Smiley A red one, and a red/white one Smiley
They're the smallest goldfish I ever had!! Just two small, small balls <3 They're at most 2cm long.

I noticed that their fins are quite torn and all, since they arrived to the shop just yesterday.
Needless to say, I'm treating them for fin rot, and during this time, I'll be feeding them the anti-bacterial medical food pre-soaked (THANK YOU, MINDE!! Smiley). They're both really perky and active otherwise, so I don't think this will be too hard to treat.

Just thought it might be a good idea to keep a little "journal" about the treatment... just to make absolutely sure they'll be good. You all know how it ended with Claymore when I thought everything was under control Undecided

Water (for common decency):
Temp: 21.2 degrees Celsius (I'll install my mini-heater)
pH: 7.5
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 10

Photos will come as soon as the two are healthy Smiley

well congrats and I hope everything goes well! Grin
I bought a tiny calico oranda with fin rot too, today! LOL!
I'm such a glutton for punishment I guess. Smiley
I dunno we'll see how it goes.  I'm medicating the water since I'm not sure if he will eat or not.
Probably will be taking a dead fish back to the store next week. Cry
But ya never know unless you try! Wink
I'm such a dieheart! Cheesy

Aww, poor thing :'D I really hope he'll be alright Smiley Lots of good luck wishes for you!! I'm pretty sure you'll make it Smiley You've got experience with this stuff!!

My children are doing great!! I fed them once a couple of hours ago, I soaked and crushed some medicated food, and they ate like crazy Smiley I do feel like they'll recover for sure! Smiley All fins are up! Cheesy

I've kept one since I adopted Tailer and now I am looking back at the first days to compare to results of new tank but it can't take the place of coming on here to chat with the total pros Wink all the best with your new pufferball fishtailers  Grin Minde you are so good at healing too, you're like the 'fish whisperer' wishing you the best too with your little tank monkey ♥

I wasn't so lucky with a big and beautiful Pearl scale. She/he only lived for a week and passed on. Sad Cry

Thanks everyone Smiley

As for today's update, still seem to be acting normally and active Cheesy Thought I saw some improvement in some of the rips, but who knows? d:
Both are still eating without issues and seem really perky Wink

No changes in water quality,
pH = 7.5
ammonia = 0 (OR COULD IT BE 0.25?!?! Hard to tell.)
nitrite = 0
nitrate = 10

I also decided to add a small photo! Cheesy They have two silk plants with them in the orb for now as well, they're just not visible from this angle Wink The one in the front is actually much smaller than the second one, and... I haven't decided any names yet Smiley
We're just calling them Orange and Toffee loosely d:

Yes I am Smiley There was some special water treatment for the biOrb that works against fin rot and bacterial infections, so I thought I'd try it out. I certainly hope it'll work... otherwise I'll get the good ol' bactopur that I'm used to Wink Got some salt in there too Cheesy

The little one has all the fins ragged except the dorsal, while the bigger one pretty much only has half the tail a bit torn.

Lol, I certainly will! Wink I won't let such cute little babies have such short lives Smiley

By the way, the guy in the pet shop wished the fish to "get big and fat" Wink I can't let him down! Cheesy
I'll bring a more detailed report when I'll test the water today c:

Yesterday I saw some teenie little ones at a pet store, I just stared and melted. Nossie, if I got a little one like these do you think Mr. Tailer will push it around when I eventually put them together? You're doing such a wonderful job looking after your newest mini miracles ♥ All the best for you Wink

Thank you, girls! Wink If you'd only see them swimming! They're at least 10 times cuter then! Smiley And imagine as they're chasing the food around fiercely, those little tails flapping side to side Wink

I was awfully busy today so I didn't test the water D: But I will early tomorrow Smiley So far I noticed that the fins are healing so well! The biggest tears are gone by now, only some small traces are visible on the very edges Smiley

Thanks! Smiley They're getting more used to being fed too, they actually swim up expecting food Wink I take it that's a good sign as well Smiley

I don't think I need to do much more, the water treatment's there, so as long as they'll get to stay in peace where they are, they should heal pretty well on their own Smiley I decided to keep them separately in that orb for a month or two, just to be sure that they'll be completely, completely healthy and healed before they join the big boys (and girls!)! April, Oranda Lover: Thank you!! Smiley

Andrea: I'm trying to come up with some better names, but... I'm sorry to say it, Toffee has already stuck! xD It's a pretty cute and fitting name actually C:
I'm just wondering about the little one, I don't think "Orange" is a very good goldfish name...

For the water parameters!!
Temp: 23 degrees Celsius
pH: 7.5
ammonia: 0
nitrite: 0
nitrate: 10

All is well so far Smiley On Thursday I'll change some water, clean the filter and add a new dose of meds Smiley

Marble is a cute name as she will look like one one day. What about Marmalade? It's like a different twist on orange, though I am liking marble.
