Thanks for the compliment, will pass it onto F.B. ... Not sure of F.B.'s age as she was given to me by a friend (after the glass bowl she was in was smashed by a falling shelf) they have children so she is probably about the age of the first Nemo movie or later... F.B. is about 6 - 6 1/2 inches long including tail, she has a great nature, considering her brush with the falling shelf... F.B. is very curious, I often find her spying on me when I am outside (probably seeing if there is any food being dished out) and she loves shelled peas, nothing makes her move faster...
I was wondering, any thoughts on what age (approximately) she may be? Cheers > Ron

How lovely!
So glad she made it just fine with the surgery and all
Such a charming little lady!
Actually, it's very hard to judge the age of a goldfish from the size of it, you'd need to actually pull off a scale and count the rings on it to get an accurate idea :/ But that would be very stressful for the fish, and it's not that important to know the age anyway, right?

Cheers fantailer and Nossie... F.B. is a charmer and your right, age doesn't matter, hers or anyone else's
and I wouldn't want to stress her to find out... F.B. is a little unusual, I havn't seen another like her yet... but as Nossie said previously that there are some many different kinds of goldfish... I have been reading through the old forum messages... I was most interested to read about cycling and setting up a new tank.. you all are so knowledgeable about fish /aquariums .. and are so willing to help and share, you really are good people... and again, thanks for answering my questions
.... love this site too, I have learnt so much about fish here...

Aww, thanks a lot
I learned most of the stuff I know from here too! I joined one and half a year ago and... well had a few small problems with my goldies :'c But all of them survived 'til this day!
So it actually is a nice forum, however, pretty many people left because of some recent complications :/

I really like the solid orange / red coloring, and I like that the fish is a milky translucent color.
Evolution rocks.

Cheers for that... yeah she has these eyecatching patches reminds me of a pinto horse, and her head is slightly translucent... I am going to try to get a front-on pic of F.B. with her mouth open wide. she really does have a big gob... spose thats evolution too... can gobble up more food, faster than the others (lol)... thats not good about people leaving (cant stand the politics that goes on in some groups) in the end its the animals, or in this instance, the fish, that end up suffering for it... Great to hear your "Goldies" made it Nossie.. regards > Ron.

I'd love to see some pics of her with her big "gob" open!
My fiance would probably enjoy seeing those too, he thinks F.B. is really cute
Yep, I'm glad they're all fine too. Before I managed to get the 83 gal set up I kept 7 goldfish in the 10 gallon :O I was testing and changing water every second day, and then I almost emptied the whole tank! It's a miracle they all stayed so healthy and happy in the end...

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK she is so purty
Love those scarlett eyes of hers. I just wanna scoop her up and hug her! Well, actually that would be a bad idea...
And I love the forum too lol! Everything I know about fish I've learned in books, personal experience, and from online sources such as this.
Lovely fish, Ron! I had wondered what she looked like

Thank you all for your kind words
...I think it was Nossie that said "she's a charming little lady" and she really is, and as MB Gold stated "happy"... and you cant help but love her scarlet eyes, she is so curious and always interested in what your up too, I sometimes think that if her fins could support her, she would jump out the pond and follow me around when I am out in the garden
... That image in my head just makes me laugh
... and just to update you all, its still so far so good with F.B.s surgery, I can hardly see where the amputation was... hopefully tomorrow the light will be good enough to get some more pics and show you her big round "Angelina Jolie" lips
... best wishes to you all.> Ron

yep from head to end of her fantail... and she is a bit on the large side Nossie, must have good genes, I also found out recently that she's nearly 7 years old...
her amputation to her tail has healed up and regrown so well that I now find it hard to see where it was... we have been also been trying to find another like her but all the other fantails I see have the more a more rounded shape body (when viewed in profile) where F.B. has a more oval (or elipse) shape to her body... as well as her big adorable lips
... cheers > Ron

I think its more like 7 and a bit inches fantailer, I think she has grown quite a bit in the last year... cheers Nossie I found another fish store that has fantails with a body shape similar to F.B... We saw a fantail whose appearence was quite comical, it was all white with a small rectangle of gold above its top lip which made it look like a certain WWII dictator... my partner Sharon gave the owner of the shop a hard time about having a big fish in a small bowl on the counter.. She must have gave him a case of the guilts because he quickly put the fish into a large tank with others, hehe... regards > Ron

Cool!
I wish my fish could be able to be comfortable around me.
They always go to the bottom of the tank when I come around
