Plants to add to tanks or ponds
«

Is there any house plants that should not be near the pond or fish aquarium because they are bad for the fish if a leave or a stem fall in? I had a vine from my pothos that hung into the aquarium once and my goldfish got sick. Not sure if it was that but I removed it right away. Also, I like orchids, but not sure if orchids can cause them to get sick even just a leave or a flower falling into the water could get them sick.
Anyone knows or has opinion on this?
Thanks

The best way to be sure that you are adding fish-safe plants is to buy from an aquarium store or look on-line for suggestions.

Do you have a cover on your aquarium, such as a hood? That should prevent the leaves from most house plants from falling in it in the first place. I would try and prevent any type of leaves from these plants from getting into the water , because they could leach unknown chemicals.
