fish bowl?

i want to get a bigger fish bowl but i want to be able to hold at least three common golfish in it. how many common goldfish will fit comfortably into a 1 and a half gallon bowl?  Huh

Hello Tigerlily

I recommend a 20 gallon aquarium for each goldfish (add 10 additional gallon an additional fish, so a 40 gallon is an appropriate size for three goldfish) rather than a fishbowl, because it will require less maintenance . You only have to do  a water change 1 time per month versus many times per week for a fish bowl.

I would say just get a small aquarium. Fishbowls are nice, but without air circulation they get dirty fast. I have had my Comet in a fish bowl for two and a half years now, and he's happy, but those things dont have a lot of space to them. And a five gallon aqarium would work for three common goldfish, especially if you dont have a lot of space. Hope this helps a little. Smiley

Most fishbowls do not provide enough surface area for oxygen exchange so it's best to start out with an aquarium. They cost pretty much the same and your fish will be much happier and healthier.

Commons can grow quite large!!!! A 1 1/2 gallon container is not even suitable for 1,  IMO!!!!!
That would be very cruel to have common goldfish in anything smaller than 20 gallons.  If you don't have room for anything larger than a fish bowl then consider a betta instead!

I agree!  GF bowls are NOT for GF!  They can be used for bettas only!  GF realease a growth hormone in their water and if there is not enough water and filtration to dilute that hormone, then the fish will become stunted and not live to its full potential.  Please, if you want your fish to be healthy and grow to their potential, then get an aquarium and not a 5g, either!  Comets and commons need at least 15-20g each.

First of all, common goldfish need at least 400 litre aquarium. Now I don't know how big that is in gallons, so look at a converter or something.
And a tiny bowl as the one you mentioned is completely out of question! (Don't get me started on squeezing more than one in there.) They're very fast fish so they need space to move about!
Rather get yourself a slower and fancier variety (like bubble eyes, celestials and the like.) if you feel like you need to have a bowl.

gold fish cannot be put in a bowl co'z they cannot swim freely..
