Very sad day :..(
« on: October 11, 2011, 10:37:25 PM »

I have bad news to bare Cry Lucky has passed. She left us today around 6:30pm, she was very sick, she had blood streaks through all of her fins, & around her gills. I treated her, & she only got worse, I did my very best to try to save her, but she was already to far gone when I got her. The fish that introduced this Family to loving goldfish, has taken a piece of us with her. She was a very beautiful goldfish, even though she was sick. I am very upset with the people that had her before me Angry (SHAME ON YOU)!!! I still haven't learned everything about this website here, but please let me say THANK YOU to the ones that went out of their way to help, karma to yall. We do have new additions to our family, & I wished there was some way that Lucky could have stayed, but she was suffering. She lead us to the point that we now have 3 tanks!! I am doing this in her honor, wished she could have still been here, to have seen her new sister. So all is not lost, she will be missed, & God only knows I wished I could at least get my hands on the people that had her, before me. Now I have to focus on Zeebie & Bubbles, they were exposed to Lucky's sickness, I can only pray that I have treated them in time, since they have been exposed only a little over a week now.

Wait wait wait!! What exactly are you treating? And what are you treating it with?

Bloody streaks sound nothing worse than water quality problem, a water change will fix that! It could also have been septicemia that she had been carrying since the previous owners, but for what I know, it's not contagious. The biggest mistake hobbyists do is treating their fish when there's nothing to treat, this will inevitably kill a fish being exposed to chemicals it doesn't need!
If you're adding the medicine to the main system you're also killing off the bacteria that are taking care of the fishes' waste, poisoning them with ammonia in the process Undecided

I'm really sorry about Lucky, she was such a lovely fish! Sad But please think things through a little just so that you won't do something unnecessary and possibly dangerous.

Nossie I am not being ugly I had Lucky professional looked at she was very sick she had Hemorrhagic Septicemia, she was so far gone that treating her only made her worse. I have been very addament about checking my water quality everyday, every thing was fine with the quality. I am not sure how old she was,  but I do know that when I got her she was in the nastiest water that I have ever seen, in an aquarium. She wasn't being taken care of at all, I was too late when they went to jail. I am very upset that someone makes the commitment, to take home an animal, fish, whatever it is that needs your loving & caring hand to survive, & they do this!!! Now my rare pandas are infected, & thats my fault, for putting them in the same tank as the infected fish. So if yall don't see me for a couple of days I apoligize, cause I am trying my very best to save what I can. Whats even worse I have a very beautiful yellow comet coming from Hawaii that will be here Friday!!! I really could kick myself in the tail right now!! I will say that I do have a quarentine tank for her that has not been infected. I have put over $1000 into my tanks, fish, & the things that my new babies need!! We just got a show fish that was at the Koi & Goldfish Show, he is 12" body & tail very gorgouis!!! Septicemia is highly contagious, just by simply using a net that has been in the infected tank, can spread this.

So I have 2 ina 40 gln, 1 in another 40gln, 1 in a 55 gln, so I have made sure that I have plenty of room for all the new babies.  I owe an apology for just rambling earlier. Nossie I need to say I am sorry for being so hasty when I replied, I am truly sorry for my rudeness. I was just stressed & upset for losing Lucky after I tried so hard to make her better, & just so ignorant to the fact that I couldn't. So please forgive me, I will mind my manners better from here on out. I should have taken into consideration that you are a hero member on here, & you know what you are talking about.  Embarrassed We have gotten the tank disinfected that Lucky & other fish were in, we disinfected everything! So, the tank is cycling again now, have the pandas in quarantine right now. They are doing really well, they are eating, & active, & look healthy. Iam really tired right now so I am calling it a night. Thank you very much for the help.

Don't worry at all Smiley I understand how it feels.
At least it's really good that the pandas seem to be okay! Did you see any red streaks on them at all?

Nossie they were looking really stained where they are white/silver, now they have returned to the color that they were. They are not just laying on the bottom of the tank anymore either, they are swimming around like normal. I felt like I needed some Stress Zyme last night Cheesy, LOL. I do have pics of all the fish except Sunshine, she will be here tomorrow YYAAAA. So, I think I have figured out how to post them into my gallery, so hopefully, we will have them posted this evening.

Oh noooo gwenblack I'm so sorry about dear little Lucky! She was such a beautiful fish I HATE it when favorites are lost to illness; I know what that's like as I have lost 2 fish to dropsy, 1 to her jumping out of the tank during the night, 1 to being sucked up by my st*pid home-made syphon, and many others to poor water quality before I even knew how to test my water. It really is sad to loose a pet, they really do wriggle their way into your heart and leave a fish-shaped hole when they are gone.  Cry

Can't wait to see the photos of Sunshine! Cute name too!  Wink

Yes, I never knew how much you can get attached to them so quickly. I need to start showing face on here more often, but I do look at the site alot, just don't post everytime I am here. I am about to download pics of all the fish, so I am excited, to see them here. I still haven't figured out the best set up, as far as the plants & stuff should be arranged in the tanks. Maybe, I should go & look at somethings, to get better ideas. I know that I truly enjoy looking, & seeing all the gorgious fish, & what they have to offer, so soothing. I can't expess enough what a wonderful website this is, so informational, & wonderful people here as well, I can't say thank you enough!! Grin Nossie, I am glad to, at least two of the fish did make it through, but they weren't exposed as long as Lucky & the others were. I take a pleadge to never intentionally, neglect any of them, or any of my animals, God put them here for us to enjoy, not destroy!! I am going to try to make a gallery with the photos, so check them out. I will repost to let yu know if I got it or not.
