Black Spots

I know some black spots are a sign of ammonia burns, but I'm not sure if my goldfish's black spots are because of this. I just got it yesterday and named her Wanda I got her at a fair yesterday and put clean water in her new tank. She has small black spots on the ends of some of her fins and really light markings on the top of her head and beginning of her tail. Does this sound like a result of ammonia burns to you guys? Thanks for your help!

well, did she have them before? or did they just appear? do you have pictures you can upload?
chances are if they just just appeared it may be ammonia burning, but if she had them when you got her then it may just be markings. if you really are worried, do a 5%-10% water change every couple of days, add some cycler to the tank, and hopefully the ammonia will go down. Also if you plan on keeeping a fish, get a test kit. The ones here in Canada will run you about 40$ CAD, but I heard that they are only 20$ US (dont ask me why there is a huge proce jump, I dunno either)
This test kit will prove an invaluble resourse to you.

Oh a fair fish... Those fish are usually not very healthy. What size tank do you have your fish in? Did you treat the water with any type of condtioner. Your fish may have some fin rot going on. I would add 1 TBS of aquarium salt to every 5 gallons of water. You might wat to get some Melafix and add that to your water per bottle directions. You will also want to add a water condtioner and a bacteria booster to your tank water. Good luck and keep us posted.
