My 10- gal aquarium hood has two screws that are rusty. The tank is only 6 months old. Should I remove these screws?

Where are the screws located (on the bottom of the hood or the side) ? There should be a glass panel between the aquarium water and the hood that should prevent moisture from reaching the hood. If the seal is broken or old, you can reseal it with some aquarium silicon.
You can probably find some stainless steel screws that are better quality at the hardware too if you really want to replace the rusted screws.

I don't have light bulbs in it, but the screws are on the bottom where the light bulbs would be. I took two of them out last night but had to leave the third one in because it's needed to cover the light sockets. Thanks for telling me about the glass panel, I don't have one but will pick one up. I'll also get some better screws. Thanks!
I remember wondering about the design of the hood when I first put it together, but though the manufacturer must know what they're doing. Then I forgot about it as I was learning about everything else.
