missing a few scales???

 ???should i be worried that my oranda has a few missing scales ,,i tested my water and the no3 was quite high so i did a 20% wc,,i do wc every week and use a pince of aqua salt,,my oranda(chubby) is behaving normal,,eating ok and pooing ok and my other fish are fine,,when i done the partial wc today i added melafix and salt,,should i be worried about this,,she is my pride and joy Embarrassed

The missing scales are probably from spawning.  All my fish are exhibiting spawning behaviors.  Spawning usually occurs in the early am.  Watch your fish closely and see if they are playing a chasing game.  Look in the tank closely and see if you can see any tiny eggs the size of straight pin heads.  The missing scales will grow back, not to worry! thats a huge relief,,,chubby is about 2-3in and my calico ryukin and 2 telescopics are not more than an inch,,chubby is the only oranda i stupidly thought shed look for another fish similar to herself (i know how st*pid) lol,,thanx very much for your help Grin Grin Grin

A missing scale is nothing to worry about, like Mindemae said Wink Especially as long as your fish is acting fine and doesn't seem to be in a distress (:

Exactly.  Our Sunshine has a few missing scales, but they've never hurt him, and he certainly doesn't notice.  It does make his tail look a bit patchy in that one place, but otherwise he's happy.

Our Huphrey and Hepsiba do have some missing scales sometimes too, and yes especially in the mornings they show spawning behavoiur swimming circles around each other and Humsi gently bumping his nose into Hepsis belly, LOL.  Cheesy

And the scales do grow back.

Our Hump lost quite a few scales when he got stuck in the rock hole, scraped off when he came out in reverse gear... in this case I treated with melafix. Now there is nothing to notice anymore.
