I know you aren't supposed to cycle a tank with fish in it but it is possible to right? Would I be a bad fish mummy if I did? I have been looking for ages for a new, bigger tank for flash and Merle and last week I found one paid the deposit and I am paying the rest and picking it up tomorrow but flash is getting very aggressive. Would it be ok for me to put him in the new tank whilst it is cycling as I believe he is stressing Merle out and I am not sure whether Merle is sick or if it is just the stress of being attacked all the time and my three other tanks are not big enough to put either of them in. Any advice would be welcome. I just don't know what to do for the best here.

you'll be fine, add lots of old tank water  & beneficial bacteria. Look to do a water change every other day, for the first week , or so

we had a thread on this , but i can't find it at the mo

I agree with scrivens, I partly cycled with fish too and no problems whatsoever there Wink Just monitor the water quality and be observant on Flash's behavior Smiley

Ok thank you. I will put some established tank water in and an established filter alongside the new one. I could also added some gravel from an established tank. Thanks guys!
