How often are you feeding him and how much? When my tanks are doing the mini cycle thing I feed only once a day or once every other day until the tank is completely cycled. Add more beneficial bacteria since they will eat the ammonia. What is the normal pH of your tap water? The "jittery", shooting around behavior could be because of the pH. At 6.5 your pH is slightly acid. Do you have any pH up? You could use that or the Seachem products and check the pH again after an hour or so. Sorry I don't use those products. Maybe Hanna can advise how to use them.

Whoops! Sorry I am not that smart with pH enless I am testing it. Just to get you started: pH 7.0 is neutral. Anything below it is acidic and anything above it is alkalinic or basic The pH scale ranges from 0 to 14. The pH scale is logarithmic, not linear. This means that each whole pH value below 7 is ten times more acidic than the next higher value. For example, pH 4 is ten times more acidic than pH 5 and 100 times (10 times 10) more acidic than pH 6 and 1000 times more acidic than 7 ( neutral ). Going from neutral up to pH 8, this one is ten times more basic ( alkalinic ) than pH 7.0 As a definition of pH : pH is the measure of the concentration of Hydrogen Ions in a solution: H+ (= protons)

Poor little Mr. Tailer ♥ I hope he is feeling better now. I wonder what caused it to crash like that. This makes me worry how quickly the pH can drop for no apparent reason. I should really check my pH more How often does everyone on here test it?
