LIVE WORMS IN FROZEN FOOD?

Hi All,
Today I cleaned my 55 gallon aquarium.  I take a small 5 gallon bucket and dip some water out to clean my filters.
I threw the water out onto my lawn and then when I went to rinse the bucket out I saw these tiny red worms squirming about in the bit of water I had started to rinse the bucket out with.  About 5 red teeny tiny worms in all.  I have never noticed worms before and was shocked to say the least since I do not feed any live foods.  Could these worms survive from the omnivore frozen cubes I feed?  That's the only place I could think of that they might have came from.  Anyone have this happen before?  I think they must have been sucked up by the filter before the fsh ate them or maybe eggs and the filter was a great incubator for them???

Well, thinking of all other microorganisms which live and survive in ice.... everything is possible with "mother nature" even things we never heard of or never seen before....
Who knows?HuhCry

I keep feeding my fish with granules, flakes, peas Smiley

Mindemae, how are your fish?
hope they are ok, but I suggest you watch them very closely, maybe give them another salt water as a treatment in between?
Also you could ask your local pet shop.

Did you keep those worms in a jar to show them?

Hanna,
Heck I just threw them back in the tank for the fish to eat.  I'm pretty sure they came from the frozen food.
It looks like a green frozen block of ice but contains spinach as well as different kinds of worms and larvae that fish eat live.  I guess I thought frozen meant dead!  Guess I was wrong! Smiley
I add salt to every water change I do!  All my fish are lively and alert with no health issues. Wink

I am not sure, I haven't heard that it is.
But if you need to treat your fishies, I think they are priority.
I'd follow the instructions on the bottle.

marina: Methylene Blue doesn't harm the plants but it DOES have harmful effects on the filter bacteria, so if you're gonna treat your fish with this, rather move them to a separate hospital tank. (It can also stain ornaments and the silicone in the tank.)
This is usually used for fungus, so... do your fish have fungus? Or just asking?
