You're right, absolutely not! I think you should calculate already when the fish is a baby, how big it will grow and get a suitable tank already from the start!
It's simply such a bother trying to keep the fish healthy if you keep them under constant stressful conditions. I don't know, but people seem to fail finding out what the fish need before buying them...

Yeah everyone is getting those ideas from movies and TV where they show goldfish in bowls all the time!

I heard in Denmark they put goldfish in blenders and let guests turn on the blenders! 5 goldfish died!
I Bejing they sold small two inch key chains with out a opening with a real one inch goldfish in it! Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry

I'm from Florida in the Usa and all the PETCO and PETSMART comercials and adds have 3 or 4 lionheads in a fish bowl.
I heard the rest from reasearching for my first goldfish.

This is why there are so many people out there thinking it is ok to keep a goldfish in a bowl. It is wrong.
GoldF(fish) need a proper tank with filter and aeration. I even provide a filter with airbubbles and some plants  to our betta in a 7 l bowl.

I dont know if you could upload a pic of the tank for us but I think it would be fine, if they get tp large upgrade but try it out
