Hi all.  My sons have decided that they LOVE the fish & aquariums, so they'd like one in their room.  They are really interested in the tropical fish, such as platies, danios & guppies.  We have a 30 gallon tank (& all the equipment for setup & cycling the tank before getting any fish). I was wondering if anyone could help me with how many fish of each kind, whether these are truly an ok mix & things like that.  I've done some research, but have gotten so many conflicting instructions about care & how much space they need that I hope someone on here can educate me.  All the information I've learned from here about my other babies has been EXCEPTIONAL!  Please help, I want to do this right so the fish will be as happy & healthy as possible!

Hello! 30 gallons I believe is around 100 litres or so.... I'd suggest checking out this website; (Link is not visible to guests. Please register to view.)

If you in put your tank details, filtration details and from the side bar click the option for 'Display species only suitable for my tank' and search for the fish you want, you can add them and the advisor will help with a rough stocking level Smiley
Generally the species you mention, I believe are shoaling species and need to be kept in groups of 6 or more, the website will tell you if a shoal is needed and/or if any species won't mix because of temperature requirements Smiley

I would still advise to individually research any species you want to take on for diet and other requirements, but as a start the website is a good one to get a rough idea Wink
